I'm totally against that.
You could have complained about the collection agent. That happened to me also, Citibank din. They gave me a CC that I NEVER used. When they charged me for AF I asked to reverse and close but the idiot agent spoke to my MANAGER about my "delinquent account". As bankers, INTEGRITY and REPUTATION is important for us kaya I was fuming mad when I found out. I explained to my manager that it was AF for a PREAPPROVED card.
Walang common sense. Nakita naman na PRE APPROVED, NO USAGE and they expect me to pay the AF? Too bad for that agent because I had a close friend that's an officer at Citibank kaya ESCALATED siya I really didn't want to bother my friend but that agent deserves to be reprimanded so she could use her brains next time.
Sa US (and other first world countries) ang gaan ng buhay when dealing with the government or customer service.

Is this sometime 2003, same thing happened to me, malinaw na usapan walang AF.

Yes! It happened Oct 2002. CT was very aggressive in giving out CCs in the early 2000s. I still have that strongly worded letter I addressed to the head of Citibank You're right, they will intimidate and see who gives in. Not only did I not pay, I made sure that the idiot agent got escalated. Serves her right for almost ruining my reputation at work. First job at bago pa naman ako sa office
same logic, in any situation pwedeng sabihin na "wala talaga ako pambayad" Whether sustento or utang, it's still a person's responsibility to pay

June 14th, 2023 09:29 PM #119Highly regulated kasi ang banking and it is supposedly built on trust. In our bank, unpaid obligations from lending institutions may lead to termination of employment....
