LGBTs are increasing in number because society has become more tolerant... even fully accepting of them. So a lot more individuals are coming out. "Fence-sitters" are also getting swayed easier so that if in the past, fence-sitters ultimately decide to go straight because of fear of societal repercussions, today, fence-sitters see that the general atmosphere is favorable to them making the commitment to go all-out gay.
Personally, I think more important than the increasing number of LBGTs is that the age of ***ual awareness is dropping, so that we see younger and younger gays. I've seen a four year old boy openly sashaying in front of hi dad with no problem whatsoever... and the dad is even happy because his gay son can easily belt out Celine Dion songs.
When I was in high school (fine, in the mid 80s), we knew that there were 4 or 5 "soft guys" in our batch. They don't hang out together (having their own respective circles) and tried to be toned down in their actions. Today, it's so common to see a whole flock of ten or more gay grade-schoolers roaming around (malls, streets, school, you name it) and flaunting their ***ual orientation with no regard to what other people think.
As I said, society is probably just more accepting today.
Not so according to a lot of statistics in the WWW.
padami pa nga ang mga lalaki.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demogra...ines#***_ratio
*** ratio
* at birth: 1.05 male(s)/female
* under 15 years: 1.04 male(s)/female
* 15-64 years: 1 male(s)/female
* 65 years and over: 0.76 male(s)/female
* total population: 1 male(s)/female (2010 est.)
but gender equality isa sa pinakamataas ang pilipinas.

There's still the possibility of marrying a post op tranny.
Society is very accepting now of gay people. Some even glamourise itWas homo***uality in the work place frowned upon in the 80s and 90s? I used to work for a very conservative organization and I had no openly gay officemates. When one person hinted about his being gay, our manager had him transferred to a sh^ty position, where people almost always resign.
Paano kung pindala iyan na ganun ang itsura sa bansa kagaya Iran o KSA...?
In the Makati building where I work, from time to time you can find well-dressed gay partners holding hands or being very sweet to each other. One couple I saw had one hug the other from behind (arms wrapped around the chest from the back, tenderly, not the bear-hug type) while buying pastries; and yeah, both were bigger and much more muscular than I am.I have to admit it was unnerving at first, but one eventually gets used to it.
