my dad would get rid of items deemed un-useful already. my mom was the pack rat.

I like my Dad's style. Walang clutter. Both of them malinis sa bahay pero mas gusto ko house ng Dad ko (my parents are not separated, pero may "staff house" Dad ko sa province where the company's factory is located) Yun bahay kasi namin sa Manila, Mom ko in charge dun and my Dad does not pakialam. Asar ako sa house namin kasi cluttered. Daming decoration, banga, frames etc

my mom was the pack rat. her sisters all were. their family even had this condo-esque outhouse bodega, for old items. similar to what the villa escudero folks had, which they turned into a museum.
i wonder, is this kastila culture?

My Mom cleared our bodega (which also made me mad) Buti yun typewriter natira, dictionary na kasing laki at kapal ata ng hollow block, Dad's 1980s humongous office chair, my great grandmother's tukador and an old dining table na bago pa daw ako ipanganak. I like old things

that's nice.
but what are you gonna do, when you have roomsful of "still nice things", doin' nuthin' but gathering dust ?

probably.
but theirs was an independent, elevated (read: flood-resistant) structure several meters from the house, that could double as a condo unit, if only it were cleaned out from the inside and occupants wouldn't mind using the orinola...

now... why did i suddenly think of that? i haven't thought of that structure in decades...
alas, old age and weather finally did it in, some time back...
i still wonder, what treasures it beheld...
