Hope it wasn't a costly solution. Was discussing w my aunt just last week on her home construction and the ish being addressed is the water run off and to keep the basement from flooding (sloping property). Getting the building permit was already saga in itself.

BTT: Had a good time talking family, houses and cars with a buddy and younger bro over merienda at Brewing Point. The dance studio upstairs had an event too so there were pretty faces passing outside, to admire over coffee and cake.

    cake.
I think it will add to the cost but not too unreasonable. The architect really didnt want to budge from his vision. I only hope that its structurally sound. But i dont know how to judge or evaluate these things.

You can have a structural design audited by another structural engineer or quantity surveyor (not all)

Care to mention who the structural engineer is?

They are part of the firm of th3 architecht's father (who is into construction). It was an all-in price when the architecht ( Calma ) quoted us.

Thanks for the tips. I will certainly see if we can do that.

I interned for calma before, and he rarely budges from his vision. You dont have much to worry about as he usually picks good engineers (structural, sanitary, electrical). The name of the engineers are in the title block of every architectural sheet. Anyway im talking about Lor calma and ed calma, not the other es calma.

Coz' i live another day. Received a call from a friend who asked me to go out and meet him at our building's lobby. He dropped by to give their xmas present for me and the wifey.

Also, my January schedule was nearly fully booked, there's also an overlapping schedule but it's a good problem.

Wifey saw him, but did not call my attention.

I saw his famous Hyundai ride (yes, he still has it), at the parking lot a few minutes after....

Do you know where he lives? I still have his handphone number, tried texting it,- but no response.

Will be meeting the firm maybe next week. Super excited.

*viper888 you think the structural will be an issue? They had to change their first structural engineer cause he and the architect couldnt agree.

Thats a rather beautiful and radical house.

From the perspectives, i dont see any large cantilevers that could vibrate (those are safe but unsettling) . The original structural engineer may have not agreed simply because of the complexity and inexperience with designs like that, especially the triangular supports.

Carlo Calma is very talented. His house in san lorenzo is beautiful. His style is modern but not minimalist like ed calma. I believe he has a restaurant in Clipp Center called Vask. He designed that too but the umbrellas in the ceiling are.....
