Bro, don't you have a backup on iCloud? Worth considering on your next phone. Best case I could recommend is Spigen's Tough Armor series. Along with a tempered glass screen protector it makes the phone pretty much indestructible against most drops.
On the positive side, you have (albeit unintentionally) weeded out all your defunct contacts. ☺
