PayPal is very safe to use for international online purchases. When you buy using your Paypal account (seller should also have a PayPal account), you are given 45 days to contest the purchase just in case the seller does not ship the item or sends you the wrong item, then you get your money back. In my case, I bought shoes from a Spanish ebay dealer. After paying, vendor never replied to my numerous emails. I contested the purchase & PayPal reversed the charges. Most US dealers have PayPal accounts. You can use it also for non-ebay purchases.

When buying in eBay, I generally avoid any European country especially countries like Kazakhstan, Russia etc. I limit my purchases to US, UK & HK. I never have tried Australia.

It would be better to never reveal your credit card details online. On EBay & Paypal, the vendor never sees your credit card details.

I really should look into these e-cards, since apparently both my banks have them. Di lang talaga ako aware hahaha. Mukhang mas okay na combination nga yung Paypal account using an e-card with a low credit limit. Thanks for the advice, shadow, bloowolf and dreamur!

In my case, the CC I linked for my PayPal account does not have a very high credit limit, parang P17k lang. Logic ko is, by the slim chance that it does get hacked, di masyadong masakit.

Same here. BDO offered me a virtual card that is 1/3 of the CL of the principal card. The only hitch is that a couple of times it got rejected by the site especially airlines.

A tip given to me when using CC with a low credit limit for online purchases, you can fund the CC if the item you are buying is more than the credit limit. In my case, 17k credit limit, item is 25k, I fund my CC 8k so when I use the CC, it doesn't get rejected.

^second to that. Pero take note lang din to give ample time for the system to update. Not sure if they do on weekends so ifund mo on weekdays para sure na maupdate. Another tip, di iaallow pa rin naman na maagoverlimit ka, makiusap ka lang na iwaive ang over limit fee, or better bayaran mo agad after purchase.

Btt. Cannot find a laptop accountable to me sa office.relatively new pa naman.

You cannot use virtual cards to purchase airline tickets online since they will need to ask for your credit card when you check-in.

They used to but lately on my last couple of trips, they did not require it. I think it has something to do with the bank's portal or perhaps your internet speed. One good thing about BDO is they require OTP which will be sent to your mobile phone so there is very little chance for unathorized purchase even if the CC got stolen.

Computing travel expense for upcoming trip to the U.S. and it will come up around 60%-70% sticker price of an SUV. Not including the incidental which we all know always happens when on vacation...

Now having second thoughts, mas maganda ibili na lang ng kotse. Bakit kasi Ang mahal Sa east coast? Now a new plan of going further north to Canada for a week stay so that's additional expense.

Try PAL. I think it would cost you about $1.4K round trip to NYC. Yes it would be expensive to travel but it is priceless!

The west coast is more of entertainment for the kids...

The east coast, notwithstanding the rough edges of the people there, gives you the best of american history. if first time bro, take the package tour starting in nyc which takes you to half a dozen states there... including DC... (Disney world in FL is simply awesome... but you have to fly there, not part of the tour...)

Do not think about the expenses. Enjoy traveling while you can.

Btt our electric bill increased by about fifty percent vs the usual.......
