My son was bitten by my dog. Small bite. Dog was vaccinated. Doctor said take no chances. He took the 4 rabies shots. Moral of the story: dont gamble when it comes to aninal bites.

Sorry to hear what happened BBG. When I was young, I got bitten by my own pup on the wrist and my lola just dabbed it with vinegar and pressed garlic on the wound. Wala man lang vaccine and they say that pups have concentrated rabies on them.Ten years daw lalabas ang symptoms kung meron. Thanks to my lucky star it's been more than 10 years na wala naman. Unless hair loss is a sign. :D
Better safe than sorry so have the complete dose. Hope you will be okay.

Kaya no dogs sa bahay e. Delikado din pag dinilaan ang sugat ng mga bata kung meron man.
Small aquarium lang okay na kami.

Same thing happened to me, sir. Got bittten by my aunt's dog, who, at that time, was visiting our house. Our household helper was quick with her fresh garlic and vinegar, and voila, problem remedied. No one told me about the 10 year waiting period, though. Is that even true?
Hahaha daddy wala kang kupas. [emoji23]
I had 4 injections last night, definitely one or more is an antirabies shot. The one I havent taken is called RIG which I can have within 7 days. Its an antibody injected near the bite for short term but immediate protection against the virus because the antirabies shot itself takes a while to work, mga 2 weeks. There are 2 kinds, ERIG (from horse, cheaper but my skin test says I'm allergic), HRIG (from human, 30k). I was supposed to get HRIG from San Lazaro or PGH because its expensive. But upon reading about it, looks like I shouldn't have it because I only got category 2 bite and I have completed a series of shots before from a previous bite 6 years ago. Doing so might lessen the effectivity of the current ARV shots. Since I'm immunized, I don't need the short term immediate antibody because I have an active antibody against rabies. This should also mean I don't need another series of shots, just one on the day of bite and another 3 days after. I told this to the doctor but she said my shots were from a long time ago. I mean all the internet articles say the same, even WHO. I want to talk to another doctor. [emoji17]

Oh I missed the sad part. My grandma died of rabies.
She got bitten by our own dog ( not the same pup) who got into a fight with a rabid dog who entered their house. I guess she was protecting my lola. We didn't realize our dog was infected until she acted strange and bit my lola. She was 80+ then and didnt want to see a doctor. Instead, she placed 2 black stones on the bit marks which amazing clinged on the wounds and fell off after a few hours. Batobalani I think what they called it. May magical power daw at hinihigop ang poison from any animal bites. Needless to say, she started showing all the symptoms of a full blown rabid infection in human starting with throat muscle spasm where she could not take in any food or liquid. Followed by tremors and slow paralysis. We brought here to the hospital but it was too late. She died after a week.

Sa case naman ng father in law ko, kinagat siya ng dog ng isang bahay sa Subdivision namin which also walang leash, he always walk pag morning kasi, anyway, the owner of the dog don't want to take the responsibility that his dog bit my father in law so para walang away, kami na kusa nagpagamot sa in law ko, after a few days, ganun pa rin, wala pa rin leash ang aso, and then 1 day, nakita ng dad in law ko ang aso, pagala-gala sa area namin, sinagasaan nya ng car namin yung dog but the dog didn't die, after a few days, di nya na nakikita yung aso sa labas ng kalsada hehehe.
