The hard part isn't about making it good. A hard-working person can find success here. But, if you're used to Manila (or just about anywhere in the Philippines) where you can seemingly get out and go on a whim, you'll find it's different here. Most homes are far away from where you want to go. It almost always require a lengthy drive to get anywhere, including work. The residential areas are deathly quiet....and almost deserted. People here are also more isolated. There aren't many social gatherings here like the holidays (fiestas, Christmas, New Year's Eve) in the Philippines. If you're a natural lone wolf like me, you'll love it. But, I've seen new Pinoy arrivals who got bored/lonely/homesick because the lifestyle here is too quiet for them.

If you're fine with the above. Go for it. But, don't say I didn't warn you.

Oh. EQ is filthy rich. He can goof off all he wants and not worry about putting food on the table (sorry EQ ). For us lower down, we still have to work hard for a living. That may seriously affect your lifestyle here.

I'm going to live somewhere central where I can walk to anywhere. I also have a car I can use. My family will support me financially until I'm established. Also, do you think all the homes in Manila are "alive" with a lot of people on the streets? I live in a place where it is deathly quiet as well. I have never even seen the face of my neighbor who is 2 houses away and they've lived here over 5 yrs. Our all around help doesn't wanna live with us because he says it's too quiet, so yes I have no problem being isolated.

What are you saying about my lifestyle? I've never seen a person who moved to the US and downgrade their lifestyle. Everyone improved in some way. It's not just EQ who has been encouraging me, it's EVERYONE else except you and another nega friend LOL

Anyway I can go back here anytime I want and I am not dying to live in your country

You're among the blessed ones, ma'am. My relating w/ Pekto's may just be isolated & coincidental. Hope it'll be taken positively as I'm sure everyone here is rooting for a happy new page for you.[emoji120]

Pekto probably thinks I don't own a passport and a cave man who has never been to the US. Like I said, I don't even want to move to the US. It's just that my family took time, effort and money to have me move there. Pinagbibigyan ko lang sila, I love my job here and I have my second mom and fat lab here.

    yun naisip ko bro
im 100% sure it was working nun binaklas ko
naka disconnect battery din when i was removing the wires (i know OC ako).
except maybe for the scratch on the screen (i did not check na pagbaklas)
i can refund the 5k naman (really no prob as marami nakapila sa item) kaso pano kung yun power line nakabit sa ibang wires (possbly frying the board?)
maganda rin rep ko sa online selling, maski overclocked motherboards nabebenta ko ng mas mahal dahil sa stability tests made prior to selling. dapat pala talaga binaklas ko during meetup nalang.
btw good rep din yun buyer and OK community ng pdvd when it comes to long time members. tipong im willing lose 5k rather than having samaan loob among members.

urat lang dahil yun kumukupit ay yun "sosyal" namin na kasama sa bahay [emoji848]
almost 10 years na namin kasama yun isang "boss" doon sa apartment, and sigurado kami di tirador yun
inday new lang sa apartment, kakabili lang ng montero ng bf mo, at panay naman outing and starbucks nyo, bakit kaming "mahirap" at empleyado lang ng opisina tinitira mo [emoji28]

I would say that Pekto has a point. Living and thriving in the US is not as easy or great as some would put it. Unless you have some support of sorts, it will be a struggle. I realized that when I was sent there and I was just given a salary to work with unlike in my other assignments where everything was taken cared of and I just have an allowance to spend.

You have to rent a place and if you have no credit history, you have to pay a bit more. You can’t just get a car from a dealership so you will have to buy a used one. You have to pay car Insurance, house rental insurance, and health Insurance. You can’t just get a credit card so you have to live within your means. It would be great if you get to work within the big metro areas but you have to deal with expensive rent. Living in the suburbs means driving to work and spending for gas plus maintenance. I understand that most would do small car fixes in their homes rather than pay. Food is very affordable but rarely can you find a convenience store. My wife and I learned to do our grocery once a month only. You have to cover utilities - electricity, water, heat, cable & internet, and mobile phone.

Some Pinoys have to do double jobs as a 40k annual salary will not cut it. A good number of nurses do that - 6 days of 12-hour shifts. IT professionals do better with some doing 80k to 100k a year so no more double jobs. The first year will be a bit of a challenge but once you get past it, everything is manageable unless you live in the colder states where subzero freezing temperatures is not something you can’t get used to - winter is a b*£ch!

Nun bata pa ako when I was little naglakad kagad ako mag isa sa Eagle Rock naka red jacket ako with hood, some, 5 minutes later two cars kagad ng relatives ko ang humarang sakin . They scolded me coz they said its not safe there.

Ngaun naintindihan ko na madami pala wolf dyan.

First thing you have to learn is that citing potential pitfalls is not the same as discouraging you. If I was discouraging you, I would actually say, "Don't do it!" I have a military background and knowing the good, bad, and ugly is always part of good planning and nothing to take offense from. I have no preconceived notions of your status or lifestyle. Actually, I never even gave it much thought. It is the Internet after all. We're all wearing a mask except for those who met in real life.

Anyway, it seems like you have a plan of action. So, forget what I said earlier.

Wala pa akong nakikilalang pinoy na di tumaba sa merica. Meron tumaba ng husto pero nag slim down ulit pero yung namaintain ang timbang, wala pa. Even my collage barkada who went to military service has gained fat.

I'm thankful that I will live with my family so no need to pay rent and utilities BUT my Mom said I have to spend din naman like contribute with the utilities and food etc because it's not proper for me to be a parasite there hahaha! I also don't want to live alone even if my family will shoulder my living expenses until I establish myself. I haven't resigned yet because my boss said he will keep my job open for as long as he can.

I heard some nurses make up to USD8-10k per month pero double or triple job nga.

OMG true re the weather, my senior family members in the US would go home in Manila during winter time. My German bosses who are born and raised in Germany still b1tch yearly about winter HAHAHA. I've been abroad in December but I've never experienced snow covered places and everyone tells me maganda lang tignan sa una pero parusa daw lol

Kaya nga wala ako bilib sa American Dream. They came out with this motto to diss their European counterparts. Kasi parsng traditional na traditional ang Europeans.

Hayun, puro lumba lumba Americans with their processed food and pasteurized cheese and milk .

Even in Napa Valley, hinde ko magustuhan ang Californian wine. Iba ang wine ng Tuscany and Bordeau region talaga. Healthy

Bakit ka badtrip today?
