Eto po natutunan ko nung mapadpad ako sa puerto rico. Abrir is a spanish verb meaning, to open. So ang abre ay galing sa salitang abrir. Lata is a spanish noun na sa english ay tin can. So abre (open) + lata (tin can) = abrelata (open the can ) Sorry, never had a formal spanish language lesson.

Jabon is a soap. Nera, i don't know. But Jabonera is a soap dish.

Bakit sa P.R. ang balde sa kanila ay "cubo". Eh diba sa atin ay kubo yan, yung bahay kubo

    My sentiments exactly.

kasi naman kung hindi naimpluwensyahan ng mga kastila ang lenguwahe natin marami na tayong mga salita na medyo nakakatawa at medyo bastos kagaya ng:

    silya- sa tagalog salong puwet
    kasilyas-sa tagalog salong ebak
    karsursilyo-sa tagalog salong-kayo-na-ang-bahala-magdagdag-baka-ma-ban-pa-ako.

Ano ibig sabihin ng 'abre lata' at 'jabonera'?
