Sa Q-Check sa Las Pinas magaling din mag repaint. Saw a couple of euro cars being repainted there.

September 17th, 2009 12:03 PM #55mga sir comparing the ease of maintenance of a 560sel engine from the 280 and 300sel engines, would there be a great difference? alin po ba sa tatlong ito ang may pinakamatibay na makina? high po ba ang maintenance cost ng 560sel engine compared sa smaller engines?

I'll go for the 300SEL... has adequate power (for my needs) and delivers decent fuel mileage.. Plus, I really love the smoothness of those MB inline sixes...
But that's just me..

A 300SEL is similar to the 300TE since they both weigh more or less the same and have the same powerplant. The 300TE has adequate power for today's needs. I've seen a 500SE weaving in and out of traffic back there when I was on vacation and that beast of a Benz was really pulling HARD. You can't beat the power of a V8, not to mention the amount of torque it has for overtaking.
300SE/SEL = refined engine, adequate power, "best bang for the buck"
380SE/SEL = single row V8, underpowered, the red headed step child of the W126 V8 line up
420SE/SEL = double row timing chain V8 (more durable), has great low down torque but doesn't deliver as well as 560SEL on top end
500/560SE/SEL = flagship of the W126 fleet especially in Euro guise (more power, less emissions restrictions)
Chirping 2nd and 3rd gear in this full throttle 560SEL racing against a similar vintage Mustang 5.0

However, if you want great fuel economy with good power delivery and forced induction, get a 300SDL. Diesel, turbocharged, long wheelbase W126. Even better, a 350SDL. Just make sure the engine is in good shape, the 3.5L diesel is known for bending rods. So if the engine goes, put in a 3.0L diesel engine from the 300SDL. Bells and whistles of the 350SDL + OM603 of the 300SDL.
