January 26th, 2007 05:59 PM #23Thank you for the information! it's only now that i found out our MB100D that broke down last week is a SsanYong Istana with all the Mercedes Badges except for its steering wheel. Any suggestions where i could find surplus engines? What other type of engine would fit without altering parts? We got damaged pistons, crankshaft and a hole punctured in the crankcase. It just conked out and spew oil on the road.

Mercedes specialists like Sunshine, MCR, Charon, etc. can source an engine for you. However, they are also good at rebuilding engines.
Just get the same engine. I don't see a reason why you have to change to another type. These engines are bulletproof. What caused yours to disintegrate?

January 27th, 2007 08:11 AM #26Thanks otep. Do you have the email address of the shops you mentioned. We're located in the southern most part of the philippines zamboanga city. According to our mechanics here the oil pump malfunctioned which triggered a domino effect. It was the connecting rod that punctured the crankcase. Any idea how much it would cost to overhaul the entire engine including parts.
