    Governments are making policies that are unrealistic or near impossible to achieve given the current technology ... perhaps due to lobbying from Tesla and electric car battery industry ... so a lot of companies had no choice but to be "creative" ... wouldn't be surprised if most companies are doing this ...

    I think Renault has also been accused of installing cheat software on their vehicles.
