Fill it up to the brim. Reset the trip computer to "0.0", drive as you usually would, when the time comes for you to fill up again, take note of the distance travelled on the trip computer.
Record that, then divide by the number of liters it will take to fill your tank up to the brim again. For example, you've travelled 400kms, then it took 27.5L to fill it up again:
400 kms / 27.5L = 14.55 kms/ L
I don't remember the 260E having a trip computer (please correct me if I am wrong) so you may do things manually by recording your odometer reading. Get the difference when you fill up again so you'll get the lenght of distance you have travelled.
Say, 96,800 - 97,200 = 400kms.

teh 260E will have a trip meter... so reset that upon fillup and calculate as necessary after next fillup.
