He can't even run for senate since he's an American citizen, right?

Makes me wonder about his citizenship since he has been living here since the 90s at the minimum. But it looks like he has Filipino citizenship because he replied that he does not want to run for public office.

    The Fall of James Deakin

Let us rewind a little and remind ourselves that more than being a journalist, Deakin rose to fame as a social media influencer. His trade is not centered in giving news, but in peddling his opinions intertwined to his lifestyle (a merchant of cool) as reflected in his social media account. Knowing his job then, if this guy posts something as trivial as hanging out with the unapologetic son of a tyrant, he is selling to us the idea that it is somehow okay to be bros with
BBM, worse, it is now the cool thing.

Deakin is desensitizing the people to the tyrant’s heir, he is (intended or not) telling us that it is okay to be friends with the spawn of the dictator sans any justice for their plundering and massacre.

Deakin, in his dreamy eyes and charming smile, is telling us to move on.

That is why the people are mad, that it is why it is not just a picture, that is why the people cannot accept Deakin’s weak explanation of drawing a divide between politics and his blog, because the people would never get in a car and hang out with an unrepentant brood of the devil.
