Yung natalo si Manny Paquiao kay Morales last year ginawa pa nila hero si Manny. Yan ang problema sa atin talo na naging hero pa? sa basketball din they are dreaming na maging no.1 tayo sa Asia, Asia lang? Media natin parang flavor of the month lang...

totoo nga yan because of the media nawalan na ng katuturan ang totoong kahulugan ng isang bayani or hero.

here are examples on how "bayani" is taken into context:

* sabi ni dinky soliman, magpaka bayani daw si GMA at mag-resign.
pano maging bayani yun nag-resign pero deep inside eh galit na galit sya kasi "corrupt" daw amo nya.


* sa showbiz, meron pa ako nadinig magkabayani daw yun isang artista at i-reveal nya yun nalalaman sa isang scandal


* we are brainwashed from the media to govt. propanganda that those who work abroad are heroes or bayani.
i think not bec. they work abroad to earn money. the bulk of their earnings napupunta naman sa pamilya nila. so what's the difference between those who work here and those who work abroad. if they are heroes, that doesnt make us who have chosen to stay here lesser than them. we can also be considered heroes coz hindi namin iniwan ang bayan namin kahit naghihirap. but that's not the case, none of us are heroes!


heroes are dead people. they gave their lives selflessly without anything in return. let's stick to that definition.

if we continue equating the term bayani to every other personality or group, then yun na nga siguro ang ipapasa natin sa mga kabataan. the term bayani is as good as Bayani Agbayani the comedian. d magtatagal pagtatawanan na lang tong katagang ito, and the significance, wala na.

kung walang ire-report na kabalastugan e di walang ire-report. kung puro maganda ang ginagawa ng gobyerno e di puro maganda din ang news.

bec. there is no such thing as a 100% good govt. evil has no sides, no face.


there are good eggs as well as bad eggs in the govt.

there are journalists (good) as well as rumor mongerers (evil) in the media.

there are honest cops/brave soldiers (good) as well as hoodlums in uniform (evil) in the police/military.

there are freedom fighters (good) as well as terrorists/extremists (evil) in the communist/rebellion movement.

there are sincere toyota dealers as well as deceptive toyota salesmen hehehe

to think that our president is a bad president is not looking at the bigger picture. she has accomplishments to. she makes bad decisions as well as good decisions. she has good subordinates as well as evil ones. but one thing is very clear, if she fails, we all fail. we're all on the same boat.


it's wrong to generalize. generalization is a fallacy pa nga diba hehehe

Mawalang galang na po. Maybe some of you guys want to talk about politics (there's enough of that already on other threads) but this thread was started in the hope of getting inputs regarding Philippine Media.

If I may, what TV Program, website, print media, do you get true, balanced, informative, objective information?

e kung yun ang intention, bakit ang ni-quote mo na article starts with "The tug-of-war between President Gloria Macapagal and media is nothing new between Philippine presidents and the press." e POLITICS AND MEDIA yung topic ng article e, it stems from the president's speech labeling the media as the "bad boy" of philippine society. if you just wanted the topic to be just the media, well sorry but you quoted the wrong article to start with.

Im always confused about media. minsan hindi mo na alam talaga kung sino paniniwalaan kung tama ba yung report nila..sad to say may mga media na talagang na babayaran para lang makagawa ng news and some at sobrang bias.. kahit maliit na bagay pina lalaki nila lalo lang nalilito ang mga tao.. at yung mga makikitid naman ang utak basta nalang mag ra rally at makaka perwisyo sa mga nag tat trbaho ng marangal..damn chain reactions

between a free press and a controlled press, i would rather have a free press.

tama sinabi ng iba, kung walang masamang ginagawa ang gobyerno, walang masama na lalabas sa press.

at tama rin yung sinasabi na maraming bad eggs sa media, just like any industry. i think media is trying to clean its ranks (TRY is the operative word hehehe). but it will take time, just like government's efforts to clean corruption.

E si GMA din naman ang nag-generalize by saying that media are bad boys. Hay naku, hindi ako aasa kay GMA. Her failure is not the end for all of us. Masyado naman tayong bilib kay GMA kung ganun.

there are bad priests as well as good priests. gulat lang ako dun sa

Maybe you want to spend time with local TV/Radio if it's a live event where you get the full message without the sanitizing/glorifying/sensationalizing stuff. Look at BBC or CNN for balanced news. Local reporting is lacking this caliber of reliability.

Local Print Media? There are two broadsheets that others call boring but I'd rather take that - Manila Bulletin and Business World. These papers have less of the dramatics.

manila bulletin? kahit kelan kampi sa administration, whether it be marcos, cory, fvr, erap or gma. kahit siguro kung si janjalani maging presidente ng pilipinas kampi pa din yan.
