There were also accounts that bonifacios group hatched a plan to assist rizals escape to save him from execution to which he declined. We could interpret that as an affirmation of the educated class in philippine societys lack of confidence with the uneducated proponents of the revolution.

Rizal embraced martyrdom over direct hand on nation building. There were two contentions during those turbulent moments in our history, that we arent ready and those who believe otherwise, that we are ready & capable

Right now our country is faced with challenge from a looming threat that is china. There are those who believe that we cant win a battle with china and there are those who believe that there is no other choice but to fight for our country. When push comes to shove we fight. But as antonio claimed in the movie "with what?"

Its our responsibility to fight for our country, not the americans (they have their own interest). We cant win biting our enemies, we have to bear arms in order to have a chance to WIN

On the other hand we can opt to talk with china, but on what terms? Sharing of territories or resources? Capitulation on the grounds of COWARDICE. No nation look up to cowards thats why great nations invested on their armed forces and advanced weaponries. This is the same line of thought that encouraged luna to build the first military school of the young republic.

Looking back, lack of weapons was the main reason why our resistance to american occupation failed. We will loose all future skirmishes with china not because of lack of courage but due to lack of advanced weaponries

Its better to lose fighting than capitulating even before the battle started. In this case antonio luna was correct about stating that our worst enemy are OURSELVES

Sadly, the most catchy lines in the movie still hold TRUE today

Honestly, wag nyo na alamin pa. Basta binili lang tayo ng Amerikano for $20k, there's no such thing as Phil Independence. All those stories about heroes pampasikip lang ng memorya nyo. Walang aral na makukuha sa kasaysayan natin coz there was never an putcome. If indeed these Filipinos inspired us, eh colonial mentality pa din tayo ngaun.

Aguinaldo is the true Filipino hero kasi realistic sya, sya first puppet ng American colony

Btw, if there is any consolation. The Spanish themselves are a failure in their own country. Up to now, delikado magka-civil war duon, southern Spain vs, Northern Spain. Dunno, maybe because of their roots, they were once ruled by the Moors or the Muslims from Africa, naging Kristyano kang sila noon time of exploration. Ika nga hilaw pa, i would assume na ok sana cla coz melting pot sila like Venice or Istanbul (former Eastern Roman Empire) but they're confused themselves like us

Iba talaga, pang ang civilization na -influence ng Romans, yun ang may dating. But Spain, I laways omit that place sa travels ko. Dito lang dami pretensious Spanish mestizos and mestizas, dami nila nasa Dasnarinas, Ayala, etc. all for show lang, not really genuine cares for us

Kakatuwa nga yun mga sabi sa social media, thanking Ortigas for investing 70M sa movie. Hello, sila na nga ang enemy nila Luna noon araw, tapos pinagkakkitaan pa ngaun sa movie. Tpos mga batang tanga would blame Pinoys for not watching Heneral Luna, but pay homage to Ortigas, a Spanish lol.

Fyi, do you ever ask yourselves where we all working right now, ayala makati, ortigas, alabsng madrigal, cubao araneta, san juan geeenhills They got all the best commercial districts for LEASE. Tske not, for lease, meaning they forever own these lands,
