after 911, fire and bombing incidents involving multiple casualties increased the need of the fire service to have major rescue and paramedics team...
most of "them" have the medical background that's why these skills are in demand now especially in the developed countries (states) even though they were not that brusko!
in fact i have worked with a fire marshall before who had paramedic background... and you know what? girl is not interesting to him .
