August 15th, 2009 05:31 PM #1178Here's the story. Dad left for Japan and he wont be back for a long time so his villa was empty. And with this economic crisis around he had to sell his Bentley GT. Which meant a free space in the villa's garage. And so just for a little fun I decided I should fill up the empty spot with a 4th car for me. Its a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo (or a Lamborghini R8 as my gf calls it) E-Gear with 20000 km on the clock. When I drove past the dealership and saw it a couple of months ago I knew i had to have it. And well come yesterday it came into my possession. Not planning on using it on a daily basis though. Just thought I should get a car for those special moments seeing as the Aston is starting to age and it seems to be getting serviced more than being driven.

September 1st, 2009 05:37 PM #1180It's 9 years old, its unreliable and it's Italian but I don't care because it's the lastest car to join my growing car collection. This one is will be kept at our Auckland apartment and when I saw it, it was, like the Gallardo (which my gf has now taken into her possesion :D) and DB9 love at first sight.
This cost me a lot of my own money (and some help from my mum) and a lot of time. I've been wanting to get one of these for a very long time now. And now I have. I thought I deserved a treat and this was it. A 2000 Narc Blue Metallic Ferrari 550 Maranello. With Beige leather seats and dark blue stiching. This is one of my favourite Ferraris of all time. Basically 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, 485 bhp and a top speed of 320 km/h.
Have yet to drive it down here to Christchurch where I spend most of my time in. But from the trip I made from the dealership to my Auckland apartment and to the shops a couple of times I can say that the 550 is an absolute dream to drive. Sounds great too. Driving an Aston, Lambo and Ferrari are very different occasions. The Aston you can cruise and waft, something I prefer to do. In the Lambo I feel like i'm 9 years old again. It's just a big fun car. You drive around with a Joker style smile on and the Ferrari is a huge and fast serious driving experience. I dont care that it's not flappy paddle... I like that it's a simple 6 speed manual. Don't have many of those.
And this small slice of my childhood dream only cost me NZ$160k. Which, around here is the same price as a brand new Audi Q7 4.2 V8 TDi. Or a BMW M3 Saloon. Or a 2 year old Porsche 911 4S. But to me, the Ferrari has more soul, beauty and just overall better than anything at that price. I love that car and I can't wait to drive it down here in the summer.
DI is more prone to carbon buildup than port or dual injected. Just be religious in oil changes(I...
Replacement for failing Ecosport...
