Hahaha no, not dropping the ride height. :p Tempting, but no point to it on a Manila daily driver. Damn those sidewalls are fat though hahaha!

By the way these were the tires.

    195/55R15 85V. Maybe I should've opted for the 195/50 instead...

i thought toyo tires were your rubber of choice?

anyway, i tried 195/50 before. its good for handling but the bad part is the speedo is not accurate and comfort level was decreased. mas trip ko yung 55 series. lalo na pang daily driver.

Walang stock nung Toyo eh. Not at my size and not at my friendly neighborhood talyer at least. Ayoko na mag-order sa distributor at mahal presyo nila.

As for the size, the Kumhos are a different case because they seem to have taller sidewalls than the norm for a given tread width + aspect ratio. I heard 195/50 is the more popular size for those because of that observation.

It's been a while and a lot has happened.

Got a good deal on some lightweight wheels. These are SSR Type M semi-solid-forged rollers, weighing 11.5 lb each at 15"x6.5" +45mm offset. Had to put on 5mm spacers and change to smaller 17mm lugnuts to fit these up front.

A few weeks ago Aibo got the best footwear he's ever had: Michelin Pilot Sport 3s, in the correct 195/50 R15 size. Out went the Kumho Ecsta SPTs, which had worn down to the wear bars. I found them unsatisfactory around Clark International Speedway because of big understeer.

Then I went to the track to test them out...

Scored 3rd in Bracket F at Circuit Showdown Round 8, last October 6th.
Official laptime around Clark International Speedway - Full Course was 2:43.479.

The two rounds of Circuit Showdown I went to in 2012 both took place on Clark International Speedway. Round 4 in June used the West short track; Round 8 used the full course.

You can compare the Kumho Ecsta SPTs vs. the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s around the common corners -- Turns 6 to 15, the ones used for the short track -- in the two videos below. Turn 6 is the one with the large acacia tree.

Circuit Showdown R4, on the Kumho Ecsta SPTs

Circuit Showdown R8, on the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s

Looks like the car's been dropped... or is it just because you're turning?

Car looks good as ever. Wondered what's under the hood?

Thanks. It only looks dropped because the panning photo is between Turns 2 and 3 of CIS-Full Course, aka "The Corkscrew." It's a short downhill straight that's really a braking zone than anything else...hence the hunkered-down look.

    I haven't changed anything else.
