February 24th, 2009 12:20 AM #25In the market (still) looking for a car and ford sana kinoconsider ko.. pero lately parang trip ko na rin mazda.
Pero lagi ko nababasa ung "underpowered" daw sya.. totoo ba yun? kasi mas mabigat lang sya ng 35kgs sa altis and pareho lang nmn halos ng power pero I hardly ever hear people say altis is underpowered.
altis:
1205 kg
109 / 6000
145 * 4500
mazda:
1240 kg
105 / 6000
145 * 4500
Its either the 35kgs and +4hp makes that much of a difference or pareho silang underpowered. Masyado na lang nasanay ung mga tao sa toyota.
And man, looking at the specs of a 2001 civic.. kaya pala ang lakas ng hatak ng civic ko dati (2001 vti). 130 * 6000, 149 * 5000, 1148kg. Lagi ko pinagsisihan kung bakit ko pa binenta.
Anyway, kasi me revo AT kami dati. 1.8ltrs nga, Kaso di halos makaover take. Ang bigat at ang bagal ng acceleration. Floored na yung gas ala pako nararamdaman. -- This is the kind of car im avoiding. I hated that revo. -- So queston is same rin ba ung mazda 3 nung revo na yun?

March 14th, 2009 08:30 PM #26The Mazda 3's 1.6 engine is average. The torque is adequate especially when you use the manual mode. Considering that it's an a/t, fuel consumption, I would say, is comparable to other compact cars.
It's the suspension and handling that really makes it above the competition (not to mention the engine sound when you rev it above 5k rpm). I just hope that the next mz3 would have a m/t version or an a/t with 5 speed.

i've already test drove Speedlab's Turbo 3 couple of times already. And i may say malakas talaga siya. with 160++hp on a 1.6 engine this very impressive on a bolt-on turbo.
the last time i drove is when we had our South EB. I noticed more improvement on the boost, stable na ren yung spool niya. lakas talaga. galing talaga ni Sids.
daimengrui is right, enjoy mo muna yung stock engine tapus if you have plans going turbo after the warranty na lang din. me siguro mga next year ko na pag-isipan kung magtuturbo ako.
Choice I would have made as well.
