my bad, di pala "paddle shifter" sa mazda. hehe. anyways, since mazda 3 uses electronically-controlled fuel injection system, may possibility ba na mali ang amount of fuel na binubuga nya sa engine? i know the fact that m3 is much heavier than the toyota altis but fuel efficent ang altis as compared sa m3 and uses the same efi system. kung ang curb weight difference nila is around ave. weight of two persons, big difference ba? possible ba na marecalibrate ang m3 to be fuel efficient sa city driving? subok ko m3 sa slex or nlex na tipid pero sa city khit below 2k rpm, hindi.

Subjective kasi kung pag-uusapan ang fuel consumption. Sa mga nadidinig ko hindi mas matipid ang Altis sa M3. Meron akong mga kakilala na Altis owner at sinasabi nila na hindi rin fuel efficient ang car nila. . .

traditional A/Ts give horrible economy in the city.

from i10s to vioses to mazda2s, pag A/T, matakaw talaga compared sa manual.

the weight makes a huge difference, if I remember, parang 1,200 kg lang ata ang altis, ang mazda 3 ata 1,350-1,400 kg. the car has to rev harder and use more fuel for the heavier car

regarding "mali" ang binibigay na fuel: madumi na ang oxygen sensor mo pag ganun. the stock ECU already mixes an optimal amount of fuel with the air - not too rich, not too lean... it's programmed for efficiency, not power.

ah ok. 3 months-to-date pa lang yung M3 ko from Mazda Makati. Ganun na sya kaagad kadumi? Btw, I recently saw some tiny rust spots all over the car. makinis ang paint but the rust is beneath it. inangal ko nga kasi baka ako pa magshoulder ng paint job after the warranty. white kasi kaya kita. Those who have dark colors you may check it baka meron na din kayo. mazda told me try nila kung kaya sa buffing. if not, charge sa warranty and no choice but to repaint it nila buong car. hehehe.

on the 1000th km of my m3s, i am averaging 10km/l based on the info button. this is mixed city and highway driving (cavite to bulacan and vice versa & cavite to batangas and return). medyo nangangapa pa ako sa driving style since ngayon lang ako nakagamit ng automatic.

sana mag-improve pa ito as the odo reading gets high.

Indeed! a Merry Christmas Day! last Christmas

walang traffic! using my EcoRoute mode from Garmin as guide/rev limiter, 2,000-2,200rpm * less than 80kph steady, no AC on my 15's...

    = P350 of Petron Xtra unleaded, * P47.50 ran 107.2km = 14.54km/l

route is C5,SLEX, San Pedro exit, Daang Reyna, Daang Hari, Alabang, SLEX, C5

recent changes, 10W40 oil, back to BKR6E-11 on a 1.8 gen 3 BP engine

Share ko lang, tips how to save on fuel especially on M3s:

    1. Avoid steady speed
    2. Don't step on the gas pedal on a constant pressure meaning, if your desired speed is achieved, try slowly releasing the gas pedal and step only on to it slowly if you want to maintain or gain speed again.
    3. Tire pressure is also important, if you are driving in the city or highway, instead of 30psi, make it 32psi. If you usually pass on a humpy or rough road, 30psi is better.
    4. Since M3s are tiptronic here in the Phils., make sure you put your gear back to neutral when idle or full stop in traffic.
    5. Avoid not to over revolution the engine before shifting to higher gear (most drivers usually exceed more than 2k rpm from full stop) but if you're in a hurry, why not.

    6. Do not open your windows if you have gained high speed, say, 60km/hr or more since air comes in your car and your car's engine would do more effort.

These tips i have gathered when I spoke to other M3 owners while in the mazda casa. It worked for me. But I don't deprive myself, sometimes I still make "hataw" moments.

    hello mga fellow protege owner...

just bought a used protege GLX last week...

    1997 ... 1.6, all power automatic transmission...

I believe because i felt the shift that it has a fifth gear...
    1st gear 0-20
    2nd gear 20-40
    3rd gear 40-60
    4th gear 60-70
    5th gear 70 up
at first.. it was susch a guzzler...5-6 km / liter it ran for 3 days

had it oil change, just a regular oil, but I added 2 bottles of AERO LUBE, 600/bottle sulit, it reduced noise tremendously and made it very responsive. shifts quickly, improved MPG 8-9

I add an air bleeder (available in the market) placed it to the hose closest to the center of manifold. Idle RPM immediately went up from 1,000 to 1,800.
Adjusted the idle RPM from 1,800 to 750

had a full tank of unleaded gas from SEA OIL, 44liter Php2,300
    odometer to 0 ZERO

had my daughter practiced on it and we ran for 50km, stops and go.. commonwealth to QC circle, to Quezon Ave. back to commonwealth to ever and st peter,, then back to Quezon Ave. then to visayas ave and eneded up agin to SEA OIL, tandang sora, same gas station where i fiiled it up...

    we ran 50kms...

had it filled up again,,,and the meter reads...3.61 liters=Php187

calculated it 50kms/3.61 liters gives us 13.85km /liter

    happy about it....

if you have questions...just write me... this is not a joke...
