sirs!! magtatanong lang po ako sa mga previous owners ng cx7 about sa review may mga prob pu ba at pagdating sa fuel consumptuion? kasi i'm planning to get this coming april.,a ng tucson kasi accdng sa friend naming meron ang lakas sa gas. thanks..
hey guys just would like to ask the owners of cx7 about the fuel consumption kasi we're going to get one from mazda gh. kasi ang review sa tucson napaka lakas lumaklak ng gas hehehe thanx... at wala bang mga prob ang cx7? thank you..
so far, no problems with the CX-7, either real or imagined. its vehicle that you do not even need to make any changes once you drive it out of the dealership
as for fuel economy, it is pretty thrifty for a 2.5L engine. there are lots of postings in this thread and other threads on fuel economy and i suggest that you make your own judgment. just make sure you are comparing apples to apples here i.e. same average speeds (disregarding whether it is city or highway or mixed driving) which for me is the more objective measure since one can always claim city driving but in highway conditions (like the skyway). also, fuel economy varies between E-10 and non E-10 fuels with the former resulting in reportedly lower fuel economy at that

hey guys just wanted to know the difference between cx-7 against it's competitors? i currently own a 09 subaru forester, i'm at the states right now and saw that there was so many cx-7 owners out here and it made me wonder why the cx-7 is so popular.
when i was in the market for a car, i was looking at montero sport, fortuner, crv and the forester. all of the car i was looking at was at the same price range. here's why i choose the forester and what i think about the other cars when i test drove them.
montero sport - great ride, down side is interior looks and feels very cheap, also a lot of people tell me to stay away from mitsubishi as much as posible.
fortuner - ganda ng porma, but when i got in it felt like i was inside an inova. ride was also terrible, matagtag and noisy engine. from the moment i went inside i knew this wasn't the car for me. i'm a guy who likes performance rather than looks. i don't care if a car is ugly, if it performs a lot better than the other cars i like it.
crv - very great and comfortable car. unfortunately this car was very boring to drive, i want a car that's meant to be driven and give a smile on your face every time you drive it form point a to point b.
forester - interior is just as great as the crv, the huge sunroof, hid, 6cd changer, awd was also a huge bonus for me. ride was very great and felt like i was driving a car, not a CUV. right after i test drove the forester ayaw ko na umalis sa subaru with out that car. so i was sold to the forester.
back then i didn't know the cx-7 was already in the philippines, i thought mazda was only selling mazda3 and 6 kaya i wasn't able to check it out. pero if only i knew i'm sure i would end up choosing between the cx-7 and the forester. sorry kung medyo mahaba.![]()
*foresterx -- choosing the right vehicle for you is a very subjective and personal thing. it is all a matter of your own taste, needs and requirements. best to test drive both and read on the comparisons as well before making a decision
as for me, all i can say is that it is a driver's car, fun to drive, trouble free and substantially lacking nothing right off the dealer. also, the model we have here is the JDM one, if that will help in your decision making process

Hi, just want to ask how often should you apply car wax and what particular brand of car wax is best for the cx-7 ?![]()
*foresterx - based on comparing by barkada's rides.the cx7 has its own advantages over the SUVs you've test drove. here they are.
Montero vs cx7 - (obviously this is my car v.s my friend's cx7) the engine of the cx7 is much much more quiter and has a better ride quality compared to my MONTERO. noise insulation is also very good compared to my montero. and lastly the ZOOM-ZOOM dna is very evident whenever i try to corner the cx7 of my friend. it just cuts through the corners and the suspension is stiff, but not to the point that it is harsh and unpleasant.if i were to choose again i'd choose cx7 hands down compared to my montero.
Fortuner vs cx7 - still the same as the advantages of cx7 against the montero specially for the ride quality. cx7's ride comfort is light years away from this car! peace to fort fanaticsbut none the less, the fortuner can go places the cx7 can only dream of!
2008 CRV vs cx7 - yep you're right on the money sir! crv is a very boring car indeed. my brother drives the current civic FD and its more entertaining to drive compared to the crv, BUT, the crv provides better ride quality and has a softer suspension compared to the cx7! so in short, conservative choice is the CR-V, and if you're performance oriented and sophisticated or in layman's term RACER type, go for the cx7!
2009 ForesterX vs cx7 - (based on the forester that i drove before) i think this is the only car in your choices that ties the performance level of the cx7 when it comes to driving dynamics and street credit. first of all, both are the two best looking SUV's today. but as a whole package the forester performs better because of its AWD!!! so with that said cx7 falls second in the handling dept. but in the interior design, i think cx7 wins in this department. the foresterX's interior is quite a step lower compared to the cx7. this would be hard to admit because i love the forester specially the XT model which has the turbo! but the interior of the forester is somehow crowded with rattles! i don't even know why because the foresterX of my friend was just a year old! we dont even know where the rattles are comming from.
so thanks for reading my experiences with these cars.![]()

thanks for the very informative reply greg, and i really agree with every thing you said. next time i buy i car it will be either cx7 or forester. the truth is when i think about it, the cx7 would be a better car for me since most of my driving is city driving any way. the forester is a great performance car, lalo na when you go up the mountains, the forester is far ahead against it's competitors when it comes to performance. i don't mind the rattles, the only thing i can't stand is the 4EAT tranny. bakit di nalang nilagay ng subaru sa forester yung new transmission ng legacy and outback?bottom line is when choosing between cx7 and forester, you have to think about where you'll use it. if mostly city driving the cx7 would be more practical since it has a better interior and quiet ride, but if you're going out of town, or off road, or in the mountains then get the forester. if subaru doesn't change the 4EAT tranny of the forester my next car would be the cx7 for sure. and that's coming from huge subaru fan, all the cars that i have owned are subarus.
hi all,
my first time posting here and frankly speaking, i joined because of this dilemma as well.
i ordered since december 2009 in Mazda Makati and up to now, laging next month ang naririnig ko. i feel they are sounding unprofessional already since they have always missed their committed time and they cant give a straight answer when it will come really.
funny that i was also told, i am 1st on the list. maybe it's their standard answer nowadays.
Welcome to the forum nlm.
After reading your post, I immediately checked. Same reply, units will arrive end of the month, and will be available after Holy Week.
I think you are the first in line for the red color, as I am for the white.
*111prez - thanks for the reply re the cover. After reading your previous and gregmontero's recent posts, I am more determined to wait for it.
welcome to the club! and I don't mean this thread. Hahahahaha!
i really think the car is worth waiting for. i just wish that the dealers would be more professional with the way they treat their customers. it says a lot about them.
for example, from the time i got my x-trail from mantrade when it first came out 7 years ago, i took it to them for all maintenance requirements, even past the warranty period, up to the time i sold it last year in hopes of getting a CX-7 last christmas. i could have brought it to any other car shop instead, but there was a sense of trust and respect for each other with mantrade.
the sales agent was very upfront in dealing with me when i first got it and the people in the service department were always honest with me about what needed to be done with my car. i never felt that they were just trying to get more money out of me for unnecessary repairs/replacements.
i will have to change that though when i get my cx-7. i'll get it from the dealer simply because i don't have a choice but have it serviced at another dealership where i have been treated with more honesty, courtesy and respect.
that way, the disresputable dealer will only make money off of me from the sale of the car. it'll be another dealer who will be earning from me regularly for the next 5 years from the maintenance of the car.
* foresterX & 111prez - thank you for appreciating the information that i dished out.![]()
another thing is that if you're the normal city dweller, the cx7 is the best choice for you if u want a comfortable yet exciting ride! and it's more economical compared to the forester 2.0x which feels sluggish due to its small engine, weight and massive body. and i agree 4at transmissions are so way out of Subaru's league. but when it comes to the forester 2.5 XT, each and every SUV around our country would be dragged to the dust! except of course if Mazda decides to bring the CX7 2.3 turbo with AWD and Hp rating that is in the sports car territory to compete side by side with the forester! hahaha![]()
I do understand how you feel since i myself have been patiently frustrated with the CX7 unit. I now have bought the tucson GLS A/T and i am quite satisfied with it. My first choice was the CX7 but until now, my agent in Quezon ave. branch has not updated me. I reserved 1st week of December but still no word so i decided to just get this tucson. I will be going to that dealership to make a refund of my deposit.
Im not the type who would continue to pursue the uncertain waiting time and being an impulse buyer that i am, i think i made a good choice of settling for the one that's available instead of waiting for something that might take longer than expected.
