That's gonna be some incredible torque steer if Mazda slaps it on a FWD lol. Probably why they're shifting to the RWD platform.
The question now is the premium upon which that new V6 diesel commands. Right now, the SkyActiv 2.2D is considerably more expensive than the SkyActiv 2.5G. For the Mazda6, the SkyActiv 2.2D and SkyActiv 2.5T are 300k more compared to the SkyActiv 2.5G.

Probably another 500k on top of the current 300k premium.

Valid pa ba yung JPEPA tarrif on cars above 3.0L displacement?

Lexus is taking full advantage, unit prices dropped by at least 500k across the range immediately. Pajeros SRP went down by a lot, IIRC those were already at 3.2M+ pre-TRAIN.

But our CX5/CX8 units are sourced from Malaysia. Hard to say how costing will differ but either way, expect close to 2.5M pricing. Mazda prioritizes margin over volume anyway.

    I'm more interested in a CX-9 RWD with that inline-6 3.3L diesel. Poor man's Audi Q7.

    Fingers crossed. Hehe

Makes no sense for Mazda to sell the 2.2D then kung same price lang.

For sure they will put a premium over it to increase their margins.

    Or

They can opt to not sell the 2.2D here.

Baging kapalit ng FXT yung Sky-D 3.3 🤣

Yes. They did. Pajero was around 2.7-2.8m nalang after that.

Talagang pointless to sell the 2.2 kung malapit na sa 3.3. Alphard 2.4 was phased out in favor of the 3.5 V6 after JPEPA kasi 3.5 was priced similar na rin.

Pero I'm salivating at the thought of the 3.3D lalo kung malapit sa price. Q5 3.0TDI na katapat nyan. Audi with 280hp and 600+Nm can do 0-100 in less than 6s.

If a new CX9 with a 6-cylinder turbo diesel performs like a Q7 at half its price, that’s a bargain! A small tune upgrade will push output to 300hp.

On another thought, a V6 turbo gas SkyActiv engine could easily be making 400hp or more. It could be an option for the CX9 or maybe a new Mazda6.

Straight Six bro, not just a normal boring V6. Think 2JZ, RB26, BMW I6.

I feel this is a prelude to the next gen RX7 with a 3L straight 6 turbo. Mazda is keeping petrolheads' hopes alive.
