double post
i just got back from sagada last thursday. ok ang baguio-sagada road (halsema hiway). meron lang mga 4 or 5 places na nagkaron ng road slip (na-erode yung soil sa ilalim ng pavement) na meron lang tambak na lupa sa ibabaw. meron naman mga sign mga 50 meters before kaya alisto ka lang. do not drive at night as you mght miss these signs. also be sure you have a gps as you might miss the right turn at losad and go straight to ilocos i stead of sagada. useless ang waze after la trinidad kasi wala na lte signal pag lampas mo dun, hangang H+ na lang (2G?) kaya di na mag update yung map. download mo sygic sa cp mo yun ginamit ko na gps app.
Our trip is Saturday already. Kamusta naman kaya daan? Baguio - Sagada - Banaue

Coming from Baguio to Sagada. Magkakaproblem din sagada proper if you plan to use your own car para umikot sa area maraming road construction malalalim hukay but you can rent naman jeep pero dagdag gastos.
For rainy season maybe you'll need to wait atleast one week of good weather before going up, atleast any damaged road nagawan na ng paraan ng dpwh, though lahat naman sirang daan nadaanan ko may sign or may gumagawa na agad.
Doable naman sa mga compact car kawawa lang talaga if fully loaded but papunta palang mabubusog na mata mo sa scenery sa daan.
Just extra careful, dahan dahan and open window sulit sagada.

^^^ i hope you did not miss the highest point of the phil hiway system along halsema.
Lions Head - Mines view - highest point phil. highway, third sa list ng itinerary namin yan and few kilometers before ng highest point may magandang view din na nachambahan namin right where kung saan may public toilet. Parangkinakain na ng bundok yung daan.
Maganda din pala mines view at sunshine 5:30-6:30 am.

Yan sinasabi nila CR sa highway
The last time I went there a couple of years back, medyo maraming landslide akong nadaanan, probably more than 10, lalo na yun Sagada to Bontoc. Pero most were either cleared na or kahit papaano kaya na daanan. Ito yun dalawa sa dinaanan namin
Philippine PALI

Going to sagada tomorrow. Kawit to sagada via Vizcaya, then sagada to baguio. Which exit is best dulo ng sctex or merin iba pwede from tplex? Heard meron sa tplex exit na lampas na ng cabanatuan.
Mas malapit sa victoria exit sa tplex.

I should say its 98% Paved. 2% yung medyo go slow ka lang kasi either under construction or may land slide. A standard height sedan will be ok. If you take halsema, watch out for fogging and sudden rain that causes rock/mud to flow and hit the road.
I suggest you go by Banaue route. Be at Bayombong by 6 to 7am so you can have a good view at banaue.
Another adventurous alternative is via bessang pass - cervantes route. If you love sea of clouds and all that valley and mountain views -- you gotta love this.
If you are coming from Vigan, you have many options to go to Sagada. But i advise you to take left at Tagudin junction instead. This road will take you to Besang Pass and to Cervantes. The road is very similar to halsema - Long, winding and lonely with great views and cool breeze. Travel here at dusk or dawn and you shall see the beauty of the mountains and valleys with low lying sun on the the back draft and clouds/fog running on them like when wind hits a silk. Its amazing. Traveling at night is safe, just make sure your car has good lighting and good overall condition kasi mahirap masiraan sa lugar na ito. Air pump is a life saver. madalas ma flat and gulong ko sa area na ito, and vulcanizing shops are very few and hard to spot. If u happen to find one, stop and have your tire pressure checked just to be safe. Small gas stations can be found in the area too, but if you are not comfortable on putting generic gas into your car, top up at Tagudin or anywhere near the junction. Tagudin to Cervantes is about 60KM by the way. Convenient stores and police assistance post can be found in Cervantes town. From here you are about 60-65KM away from Sagada or about 2 to 3 hour drive.
Road quality is good about a year ago, di ko lang masabi sa ngayon - concrete all the way, about 10 to 12m wide at some area, except siguro for areas that are being repaired/improved. Watch out for narrow shoulders, pedestrian walking on the road, parked vehicles and obstructions. Maintain a safe speed. wag magmadali. Maganda naman kasi ang view, take time to appreciate it.
Pulag road I cant tell you, I was there about 8years ago, not very sure on road condition today.![]()
Went to sagada 20 years ago and the road condition is really terrible it took us 14hrs from manila to sagada thru vizcaya and 8hrs from sagada to baguio. Pang 4x4 lang talaga nuon and umuulan pa pag hapon at ma fog.
