Per a SMC insider, this is doable as ROW acquisition is already at 99.5%. Remaining 0.5% at Sison (beside Cojuangco Road) will be acquired real soon as well. Biggest challenge right now of PIDC is not the ROW but civil works, especially a 3-span bridge at Bobonan area.

Now, Gov't thru DPWH / NEDA ICC must fast-track TPLEx extension approval. Dadaan pa to ng Swiss Challenge which will take time.
Just came from Baguio and the TPLEX Rosario exit is nowhere near completion and definitely won't make it within 2019. While the bridge parallel to Bued bridge is already showing signs of progress, the rest of the highway extension is still mostly gravel.

The completion of the bridge will cut travel time from Pozzorubio to the foot of Kennon from 20 minutes to maybe about 10-12 minutes.

The bigger problem is the terrible bottleneck in Marcos Highway - it really can't accommodate the weekend tourist traffic from Manila. Kennon's reopening couldn't come any sooner.

In the meantime, motorists can take the longer Aringay-Tubao road to avoid Marcos during rush hour (i.e. Sunday afternoon headin down). I saved about 15 minutes of travel time even if it was 15 km longer because of the sheer volume of cars, trucks, and buses heading down Marcos.

No cars, you can take corners at speed, and you can enjoy this beautiful view:

Kahit paano meh "consolation prize" si RSA as Sison-Rosario segment was temporarily opened for Class 1 / Class 2 vehicles for Madness Yuletide Rush 2019.

Rosario terminus rotunda will be expanded after the holidays.

Pero Baguio really needs to address horrible traffic especially during peak season. Baka pwede mag inter-city BRT loop / other possible solutions [there were previous news reports officials were eyeing a cable system from LU to Baguio]

I had a lot of fun driving through this route. Have tried it both in the morning and at night. But I agree it's not for everyone. Corners are quite tight.

57 km from Shell Camp 1 to Baguio via this road (Aringay-Tubao). Marcos is 47 km, Kennon is 35 km.

I took this route going to Baguio last year. I really felt the torque vectoring capability of my car. Tackling the corners was really great.

My passengers got dizzy with those twisty tight turns unfortunately. I'm musing on taking this route next week but my passengers are somewhat reluctant.

A lazy hour’s drive to Baguio via that route will do.
