November 23rd, 2008 06:35 PM #43Regular driving nga pala yun 8hrs sir, sorry.. Nasanay narin kasi ako bicol run ay 5hrs ave. That time kasi nagmamadali ako ewankoba basta mabilis kami nakarating doon nag aaverage ako 90-100 at meron mga kurbadang pang initial D na kinakain ko other lane, at mga truck na inoovertake kan sa kurbada..(wag po tularan-noon lang yun ngayon hindi na) pero clear ang daan, parang deserted at mga aso ay natutulog sa kalye mukhang wala dumadaan ssakyan..Normally it takes longer in the morning because of vehicular traffic/ kuliglig crossings..

November 23rd, 2008 09:54 PM #45Hehe..average kasi is 90-100 so straight road burst can go as much as 140, bends at 40-60..Thats the secret of getting there on time sa mga long drives, maintain the average speed..i think mas malayo lang ng konti ang Solano sa Baguio and nakukuha ko Baguio in 4hrs..Mas okey talaga magdrive sa early morning, patay molang headlight overtake na kahit kurbada-parang bus driver..And para hindi stressed kelangan talaga limit mo yung travel time esp kung wala ka kapalit magdrive..Pero noon lang yun mga panahon, msyado pa adventurer kasi.. That time kasi target namin Batad which is malayo pa talaga at hindi kakayanin kung Sunday pa kami uuwi from Sagada..at may humihirit pa Mt Pulag daw, w/c is impossible na kasi 3days yun..hehe
Kung road trip or nature trip esp with kids, i suggest to travel on daytime para relak lang and makita good sceneries along the road..

October 6th, 2010 10:43 PM #46We are planning to Sagada by Dec. 30. It is my first time to go in that place. In going their we will be first go to La Union and stay their for 1 night then Sagada.
Question:
1. Using a car Vios 1.3. Do you think it advisable to bring my car to Sagada?
2. What is the best route from La Union to Sagada?
Thanks a lot.....

November 9th, 2010 05:10 PM #47a vios? hmmm... it might not be a good idea considering the harsh road conditions. it gets even worse during this time of the year because of the incessant downpour of rains. best to use a 4x4 with high ground clearance i.e. a rig that could bring you to hell and back... that's what you need.
since you're going to la-union, you might consider going to pagudpud instead and hold-off you're sagada trip until weather conditions improve (during the summer would be a great idea, perhaps your vios would be able to handle the road then but still i strongly recommend one with off-road capabilities)
however if you're really hell bent on heading to sagada this time of the year, the shortest route from la-union would be to climb up to baguio then take on halsema hiway towards mountain province (but like i said, considering present conditions, it would be courting with disaster). another route is to use the kayappa-nueva vizcaya route which is a zigzag road that goes up and down winding mountainous slopes but completely cemented. you can reach nueva vizcaya coming from baguio in just two hours if you're in a real hurry, otherwise you may want to enjoy the ride being close to nature. you may also drop by the ambuklao dam for some sightseeing. once you reach aritao, it's cruise highway driving of minimal traffic all the way to banaue. you'll pass by some progressive commercial districts of nueva vizcaya like bambang, bayombong, solano, bagabag. then there's lamut, the first town of ifugao. then after some 45 minutues you'll reach lagawe, the town proper of ifugao. you may also like to visit kiangan about 8 kilometers up from lagawe which is a scenic nature-preserved town but not much heard off (this is where yamashita surrendered) perhaps due to low or nil publicity. the rice terraces here are also captivating especially during the planting season.
anyway, from banaue, you may then decide if you wish to pursue your roadtrip to bontoc then to sagada. your choice. hope this helps... happy cruising..
