I own a firsthand 2.0 Gas Manual Revo GLX 2004, gamit ang stock rims and tires, yun tires naka isang palit na whole set dati 3 years ago, pero yun rims hnd pa.

I'm planning to upsize my rims/tires, and here are my reasons:

    1. Better looks. Twuing nkakakita ako ng ibang revo sa streets na customized tires, lagi bigger, at parang it looks better that way. I think revo stock tires are too small in proportion sa katawan, or is it just me?

    2. Better gearing ratio. Nkadrive na ako ng maraming ibang rides, kahit diesel pa, pero feel ko, revo had a very low gear size even on 5th gear, so I think bigger tire size will keep rpms lower at high speed. Will the difference be significant or noticable?

Kung mguupsize nga ako, hindi ko pa rin sure:

    1. If I should go a bit wider (~215mm) than stock tire width (195mm). I heard wider tires provide better turns in corners at parang mas maganda nga tignan, pero sabi nila it is harder on the steering wheel, bad on wet roads, and some effect on fuel consumption. Are these true?

    2. How big my tires should be at best (rim diameter + sidewall height) without rubbing against the fender. Ok lang kung yun speedometer and odometer hindi na maging accurate after the upsize. Should I go for r16 or r17?

    3. How low should be the tire profile. Assuming 215mm width, is 215/60 r16 or 215/50 r17 good? Other recommended size/config?

Lastly, kung decided na ako sa rim and tire size then:

    1. What brand of rims should I go for? Ok daw ang rota rims, tibay at affordable. I also see a lot of concept one rims which have nice designs, affordable ba at matibay or hanggang porma lng?

    2. What brand of tires should I go for? Yokohama, Bridgestone or Goodyear?

Sorry ang daming tanong, ang dami kong hindi alam eh, at hirap rin mgdecide eh. Thanks guys!

I'm sorry if my first post was too long, newbie here.

To simplify, I own a 2004 Revo GLX 2.0 Gas Manual.

I'm just seeking some opinions, feel free to answer any of the questions:

    1. Should I stick to stock rim and tire size? What advantages/disadvantages do I get by upsizing the over all size?

    2. Should I go for wider tires? 215mm or 210? Will this make my rides handling better? What are the disadvantages?

    3. In upsizing the overall tire size (rim diameter plus sidewall), will it consume more fuel? Will it actually increase my top speed at 5th gear? Will it be bad for fuel economy when accelerating at low speeds?

    4. What is a good tire profile without touching the fenders? Is 215/60 r16 or 215/50 r17 ok and will it fit? I wish to balance good looks and good handling while not being too harsh in comfort.

    5. What rim and tire brands are reliable? Rota or concept one or other suggestions?

Thank you for the help, really need it!

Sagutin ko lang yung mga alam ko

Upsizing the rims has its own pros an xons
-- better handling, better on cornering
    -- looks department will improve
-- fc will be affected but not that significant since more friction sa road
-- no effect on the rain whatsoever basta good tires lang
-- concept one and rota are both ok
-- ill go definitely with 205 width but no idea if it will rub
-- ill go with yokos or bridgestone. Wasnt happy with my goodyear then
-- 17s can be risky of bengkong pero if you can drive slowly para di makahit ng pothole def. mas ok to sa looks

Thanks for the inputs, renzo_d10. I think I would go with 16 inches rim diameter. Right now, I'm just torn between 205 and 215 width.

I tried to do some research for the past two days, and I found out that width greatly contributes to wheel weight, which then affects FC. As for fitting, I think these 3 will all fit: 215/60-15, 215/55-16, 215/50-17. Since section height (60, 55, 50) is a ratio, it tells how low the tire profile is, I'm just not sure how low will be risky for rim bents due to potholes.

As for tires, I've heard many negative feedbacks on Goodyear. Is Falken a good brand? It seems that my Revo uses this brand, I guess it was what the casa install when I asked them to replace the 2 damaged tires 3 years ago. I also heard Bridgestone Turanza variant is good, I'm just not sure if that is commonly available here.

    Thanks again!

Dun ako sa 60 series na 16's since Revo naman yan no need to go low profile. Not sure if sasayad siya but I doubt it.

Yep pangit talaga goodyear. No experience with falken pero sa turanza meron, ok siya. Had them for about 4 years din an makapal pa rin when i let them go

After factoring in all the online feedback I gathered, pati expert opinions and user experiences, I've narrowed down my choices these 16" profiles:

205/55R16 (0.5% larger than GLX/SR stock, 0.4% smaller than GSX stock)
215/55R16 (2.3% larger than GLX/SR stock, 1.3% larger than GSX stock)
205/60R16 (3.8% larger than GLX/SR stock, 2.8% larger than GSX stock)
215/60R16 (5.7% larger than GLX/SR stock, 4.7% larger than GSX stock)

So if ever I decide not to stick with stock rims, and my tires will be in due replacement, I think it would be one of these profiles.

Here are my last 3 questions:

    1. Which of these profiles should I choose if I will upgrade? Many people are using 215/60R16 but isn't it recommended to not go past 3% difference vs stock?

    2. What should be the offset value of my new rims? for 205mm? for 215mm?

    3. If I should stick to stock 14" GLX rim size on due tire replacement, which of these should I choose?

    195/70R14 (stock)
215/65R14 (1.0% larger than GLX stock)
205/70R14 (2.2% larger than GLX stock)

    Thanks ulit!
