Curious lang, a lot of people are saying that for a sedan, sobrang tagtag daw pag 17s ang rims and better daw pag 16s. So what if i have 205/45/16 na setup, same tagtag ba un vs a 205/45/17?

It depends on your sedan. A small car like the Vios or City might be better off with 16s but it can accomodate 17s. A Civic or Altis or Mazda3 are good with 17s or 18s. A Camry or Accord or Mazda6 looks better with 18s or 19s.

In case you go for 16s on a small car, you need to make sure that the tires match the rims. My Fiesta used to have 195/50/16 tires as stock.

Yes in practice at least kasing tagtag lang, or it will be slightly worse (theoretically) than the 17".

Compliance comes from sidewall height, 205/45 = 92.25mm of sidewall on both 16" and 17" setups.

Why is the 17" theoretically better? Because it's bigger (even if minimally). When you hit a bump or a rut on the road the deflection a tire receives is proportional to its size. Think skateboard vs bicycle encountering a pebble on the road.

it depends on many things. some cars can accomodate bigger wheel&tire combinations.

another consideration is if the vehicle has a supple suspension. some are soft and some are not so soft. the not so soft when upgraded or "enlarged" can get stiff.

bigger tires mean higher load ratings which in turn are stiffer.

Ideal tire size for 16" is 205/50/16 or 195/50/16 assuming your vehicle is a sub-compact like Vios or City. If you're already on 205/45/16, that would be almost the same ride quality of a 17" with the same aspect ratio. On the other hand, the 17's overall diameter is bigger and will feel heavier compared to your current setup. Will also have an effect on your fuel consumption.
