May 24th, 2009 01:34 AM #82i heard from a friend of mine who was contemplating upgrading his ride again, that Kia increased their prices across the board, sometime within this month of May.

mayroon pa rin kasing bumibili ng Kia kahit na nagtaas na sila ng presyo. heck even my aunt bought a Carens without availing of the cash discount.
CAC will soon lose touch of its base pag ganiyan ng ganiyan diskarte nila.
ayaw na yata nilang ma brand na "people's car"

Sorry if you got confused with what i said. was just saying that Kia prices are quite close to their japanese counterparts that if your budget limits you to kia, then it's okay to get a kia. but if you have budget for a japanese one, it's a better pick.
I have nothing with korean brands, just give them a few years more then they'd be comparable to the japanese.
As for a philippine-made car to challenge the rest of the world, nagsara na ang Sarao(sorry OT)

Yeah, kalokohan talaga mag presyo ang Hyundai-Kia!
Akala nila porki ligtas sila sa auto problems ng US and Europe eh that gives them the right to jump up their price? I've recently been to S.Korea and I know yung presyo neto. Ang laki ng difference! Gahaman kasi ang local distributors natin eh.
The Carens pricelist is a joke! A korean car w/ a 1 to 1.2 mil price tag? What are we paying for???
There's are no curtain airbags, side airbags, passenger airbags, ABS, EBD, 6 speaker system and leather seats.
So why in the world does it cost more than a top-of-the line Altis, Civic, Lancer, Mazda 3???
I'm better off buying a pre-owned BMW or a Volvo S40.
I'll just purchase my 09 Sorento sa S.Korea and have it tuned there sa factory mismo para ma max out ko yung hp. Mas mura pa dun at may performace parts pa sila, after all saan ka nakakita ng Japanese performance parts made for the Korean engines of today? Di na eto yung panahon ng Starex-Pajero sourced engine.

1. There's a very high tax on CBU vehicles.
2. It's equipped with a CRDI VGT engine which is quite expensive.
3. It's a seven seater global model car.
4. Business is based on demand.
5. H-K surpassed several japanese marques already (honda, nissan, mazda etc)
