about the 10 seater to 7 seater conversion, the dealers did offer something like this before. costs 10-15k afaik.

guys remember my post before about my problem with the power steering system again? brought the car two days ago to Kia Signet Edsa. they replaced the hi-pressure, suction and return. all in all the damage was 5k. at least they did not opted to replace ALL just like what Kia Pasig is proposing

best of all, got the approximate cost immediately, they have all the parts on stock, and got the car back at 5pm. see the difference?

This sensor is located between the airbag and the nut that connects the steering wheel to the steering column. Have the connections checked. The loose contact is there. If the loose contact can be repaired, ok. If not, it has to be replaced. The airbag will not deploy while using the car..
Altec, thanks man! Really appreciate you for taking the trouble of bringing our problems to the casa for answers.

Finally found what's causing it. Just yesterday, the horn and stereo controls went out, along with the flashing airbag light. Upon reaching home our mechanic dismantled the steering wheel and pulled out and dissected the clock spring assembly, this contains ribbon wires that powers the horn, radio controls, airbag sensor, etc. and discovered that ribbon wire was already broken. We replaced this assembly and all functions were fully restored.

i guess i have to check the sensor then. tnx

how much is the clock spring assembly? i inquired at kia pasig 2 weeks ago and they told me its 5k+, so what i used instead is the ordinary rainbow wire and it only cost me 200 pesos. i cant say that the replacement is the culprit to the srs signal since it has been acting up even before i changed the ribbon wire, i'll try to clean the sensor this weekend and see if the problem disappears. i may also check the power output as suggested by altec

Hello Utakabo: I got my clock spring assembly from a friend for a songI really got lucky that he had an excess unit to spare. I also inquired at kia marikina and was quoted 5,500 for that assembly excluding labor.

    Hello to everyone,

This is my first time to post here. Its great to have forums like this to help decide future car/van buyers like me… I’ve been reading through this forum the past month and to tell you honestly it was of great help for me to decide into buying a van to replace our Toyota liteace which has been overheating in last few years.

Finally last January 2, 2008 we have decided to buy a 2nd hand van. We got a Kia Carnival LS 2000 model. Aside from some small scratches makinis pa siya. Laking tuwa ng buong family kasi ang lamig ng A/C and of course ang comfortable ride compared to the old liteace. May TV with VCD/CD/radio which is standard daw. The odo reading is just barely 49k km(I hope this is true). We got it for P358k. Looks okey as all indicators, lights, switch, etc are working and walang kalampag.

The second day I used it to go to Makati without any problem (I’m from San pedro Laguna btw). The problem came on the third day(ehto na po!!!).

As I was traversing the north bound of the SSH bago mag exit ng Susana heights the engine just went out of power… My first though was that its the timing belt. And true enough it was the belt. Had it towed to my mechanic’s shop in Pacita. Initial inspection on the side of the engine was that the belt broke down with the tensioner bearing being the source of the problem. Looks like the previous mechanic did some patching up job with the bearing. Nag welding sa center para di maghiwalay siya ayon nag stuck-up. The cylinder head cover was opened too and to my surprise…. whoooo… 4 rocker arms are broken too… Aray san ako bibili nito sigurado set ito sa casa. Thanks to this forum was able to get surplus rockers (P500/each) at a surplus shop in Banawe near Fronte.. I told the mechanic to open the crankcase too since nadurog into small pieces ang rocker arm and have it cleaned down below(sabay change oil na din).

Other parts belt, bearings were purchased in San pedro and in Zapote since we thought it was just the timing belt and bearings that needs to be replaced.

Oh by the way, to j3 engines/carnival owners, I’ve done some experiment as I notice that the j3’s engine uses identical timing belts with the Mitsubishi 4g63 engine (P1600/pc lang compared to the KIA OEM which is 3500++). I tried using it and it works… I just hope it last as the OEM of KIA. Will keep you posted on this little experiment of mine.

Again to all posters in this forum many thanks for the valuable info you have given… sana tuloy-tuloy ang post para magkatulungan tayo. Salamat po…

welcome po Francisy2003 this forum will be of great help thanks for sharing your experience .....

as for mine well it looks like the gas tank floater is workin after all... i think i was just a lil too paranoid about the gas warning light going off too early but now everything seems normal so far ( still under observation)... as for the floater part i checked almost every where including 2 casa's only one place has it in stock(Hybrid in banawe) athough the guy said i have to bring in the part to compare coz he's not sure if it matches my own model...cost is 1.8-1.9K....oh well abangan na lang ang susunod na kabanata ...gud day ya'all...

Welcome to the forum. That's some interesting info regarding the limited interchangeability of some Mitsubishi and Kia parts. Do keep us informed on how the alternative part holds up in the long term. Thanks
