Just this afternoon while going home, the warning indicator on my airbag suddenly illuminated. I've restarted the engine but the indicator light of the airbag did not go away, indicating that there may be problem with my srs.
Question:
Can I still safely use the car even if the srs indicator light is flashing. Wont the airbag suddenly deploy while im driving?
Or can i temporarily disable my airbag by taking out the fuse, pending repair?
Thanks in advance.

January 24th, 2008 07:33 AM #2082i have the same problem too for quite sometime now, even the warning light for the abs is also illuminated intermittently (its more frequent that its not illuminated).
can someone answer this?
i have the impression that the lights mean that the feature will not work when it is suppose to work rather than the other way around (i.e. airbag deploying with no apparent reason), but i maybe wrong

January 25th, 2008 12:06 AM #2084That happened to my ride. While rolling to a stop while braking, it would light up and even give out warning beeps. When I had the casa check it out, it was because the brake pads were worn out. So it could be the same with you.
Regarding my injection pump, its finished by the calibration shop. The casa will install it tomorrow and test the ride. I discovered that when I had my pump fixed the first time around and that was when it was still under warranty in 2006, i discovered today that the timer piston was also the culprit, it causes the pump to whine. So I am asking the casa why is it damaged again.Last edited by altec; January 25th, 2008 at 12:09 AM.

January 25th, 2008 07:57 AM #2085altec: i hope your series of problem finally ends this time.
about the pads, i already had them replaced together with the disc brakes but the problem still persists. the first owner actually had it checked at the casa before i bought the unit and he was told that the problem daw is in the computer box(?) so he had it reprogrammed but the problem still shows up every now and then. i am actually thinking that the problem is on the warning light itself and not on the system that it is suppose to monitor (i really hope this is the case) then later on the srs warning light also started acting up.

January 26th, 2008 08:24 AM #2087Jabr, re airbag light. Possible loose contact at the steering wheel. Suggest to remove the steering wheel, from the steering column, open the cover. Remove the airbag, then remove the electronic sensor assemby that connects the airbag and the steering wheel. This sensor is located between the airbag and the nut that connects the steering wheel to the steering column. Have the connections checked. The loose contact is there. If the loose contact can be repaired, ok. If not, it has to be replaced. The airbag will not deploy while using the car.
Kenzie, yes, may deperensia ang float gauge mo. Sedona and carnival supposedly uses an electronic float. Either it can stil be adjusted or it needs to be replaced.
Utakabo, regarding abs light, its either a dirty sensor at the brake area or thin brake pads. If so, clean sensor or replace brake pads. Another possibility is over voltage of a possible defective alternator. Over voltage? I asked. May nangyari na daw, umabot ng 17 volts ang output ng alternator, causing the electronics to malfunction or misread everything.

You can bring your Kia car to the Kia Family Day Service Clinic ni South Supermarket Pasig, along Amang Rodriguez. They do have Korean engineers there that can help you diagnose the problem. Last day today.
I just availed of the free 4L engine oil and air filter.

Ang sarap naman ng buhay ninyo dyan. Even Mikey can bring his car down to Manila. It will be worth the trip. Am based in Visayas kasi eh. Guys, take advantage of this.
I hope to get my ride later today. The owner promised to give me more discount to defray the cost of repair. Sige, better than none.
