After 5 years of listening to FM radio stations and cassette tapes, I finally upgraded my OEM head unit to a Pioneer DEH-2050MPG that can play CDs. In truth, I'm not really fond of playing music while driving, as I prefer to either talk with my passengers or listen to the distinct sounds of the vehicle.
Kaso, nainggit ako sa Starex namin na mas high-tech ang stereo, kaya ayun, Christmas gift ko sa Sedona ay bagong stereo:
Just some advice to those thinking of upgrading their stock HU --try to fit it into the space of the old HU before making a final decision on it. Yung Pioneer kasi, although kasya sya sa space, natatakpan ang pinakataas ng front panel, kaya pina-baligtad ko yung pwesto nila ng cubby hole (notice from the photo that the top of the cubby hole is already hidden by the fascia of the dashboard). May konting gap din sa kanan ng HU, kasi medyo maliit ang width ng Pioneer kaysa sa dating unit.
My only gripe with the Pioneer is that the title doesn't scroll, unlike the JVC HU in my Starex.
Maybe in another five years I'll finally decide to have a DVD player installed (hehe).

Try mo yung Timken na brand ng wheel bearing. I used this brand when I had my left and right front wheel bearings replaced over a year ago, and they have not given me any problems.
Hindi kaya sablay ang pagkapalit ng bearing kaya nasira sya kaagad? Also, wala bang warranty on parts yung Fronte, kahit isang buwan man lang?

December 25th, 2007 01:38 AM #2067am sending my ride to the casa for insurance body claim and will have the injection pump checked. Right now, lumalala ang problema. Before, on occasion when it goes beyond 3rpm sa hataw mode, bigla na lang papalyado, obvious na may bara ang injectors. The past several days, I noticed it becoming more frequent, from a cold start, the engine quickly starts, but when you try to rev it, ayaw, talagang ayaw, at it starts to go down to below 500rpm, then maybe after 30 seconds to a minute trying to rev it, slowly it will allow you to rev. But obviously, medyo rough idling pa. Revving it up will create a tremendous black cloud of smoke. Akala ko mawawala. Shet, super itim, nonstop if I rev it hard. Ipasok ko na lang talaga on the 26th. I don't think this engine will last till new year's.

Sorry to hear about the worsening condition of your engine, altec. Mukhang kailangan na ipasok sa ICU yan.

Brought our carnival to Kia Pasig. showroom is at silvercity while their service center is located at Amang Rodriguez Ave. Santolan Pasig City. ito yung katabi ng Manhattan Motors at katapat ng Mickey's Auto Sound, also a block away from South supermarket.
Had the Power Steering system checked for leaks, again! it came to the point that the fluid is already below minimum level. went around 10:30 AM. had it diagnosed and asked for a job estimate. Had our lunch at the nearby goodah restaurant. nasa loob mismo ng vicinity nila. the estimate came out around 2:20 PM. which is super slow on my standards. to be fair konti lang ang nagpapagawa. its acceptable if their taking in a lot of customers pero hinde eh. tsk. tsk. when i looked at the list, they will replace all hoses. suction hose, return hose, etc. etc. another case of tamad diagnosis.if all of them are due for replacement e di sana pagstart ko pa lang, ubos agad ang power steering fluid. (or maybe they were just preventing back jobs kaya papalitan lahat) which is the case i explained to them na dahan-dahan lang nababawasan. the whole amount adds up to 9,000 pesos including labor.
now what i found funny was there were like 4 hoses to be replaced. now with each hose was a corresponding labor.
example: suction hose 1 = part cost = 550
labor cost = 375
suction hose 2 = part cost = 400
labor cost = 350
is it just me or ok lang ba ito? i have maintained a couple of cars for the past few years, sa casa and sa labas. but this is the first time i've seen such an estimate. for a second opinion i will also have the van diagnosed at signet edsa. baka naman ganyan talaga.for all the four hoses ganyan.
and the incompetent service advisor added up the valve cover gasket, which was arguably due for replacement. without my consent. at least sabihan man lang ako bago ilagay sa listahan di ba? nagulat na lang ako.
thats not the end, some of the parts are not on stock which if i would pay downpayment according to him would arrive 2-3 days. wtf? e bat sa signet pasay kayang magparating ng piyesa ng maghapon lang. BS. i even asked for the copy of the estimate and the SA told that he will charge me 400 for it. i had it. i decided to leave.
on the plus side, their customer's lounge was very cozy. flat screen tv, dvd player, leather sofa, magazines, free cofee and water. and their facilities looked top notch.
im not saying that generally their service is bad. justing sharing to you guys my experience so you can be forewarned.
if you'd ask me the best kia service center for me is still the dealer network of signet.
Sensya na guys just ranting and venting out.

S.A.'s and mechanics, I believe earn on a per commish basis, atop their basic. Which lead to more and more of them to recommend a wholesale work scale even if the problem can easily be resolved by repairing or even just adjusting a part or two. Labor charges seems unscrupulous as well, mostly unjustifiably redundant, hidden or otherwise completely unnecessary.
Casas are widely known to exercise these foul service practices, as if their premium pricing for parts is not enough to turn you off! Albeit, some third party mechanics/shops do it as well, Rapide or Zafra anyone? They'll rip you off for every dime they can. Honesty in the automotive service world is definitely hard to come by these days. As for me I only take our vehicles to service centers which lets you take part of the job to be done. Those that let you observe and even participate in the repair process and explain to you the diagnoses and the procedure to be undertaken and in the process justifies the cost.
Imagine bringing your car to your dealer to have them read the computer box for possible fault codes, they told you that they found something wrong but refuses to tell you or even show you what the codes were nor the actual procedure. Should you take their word for it while their giving you an estimate of 20k up to "fix" it? You won't even know if indeed the part was replaced or was it even broken to begin with. Then you're not allowed to observe while the vehicle is being serviced. My most hated part is when they insist that you can't go to their work area for whatever lame reasons. Wheels Inc. E.Rod is one example of such casa. I mean their facility and workmanship "might" be fine but honesty is a big ? for me. Their S.A.'s attitude are also a little too strong for me to like nor trust. But in fairness their Parts department personnels are very accommodating and easy to talk to, although ordering out-of-stock items takes a while * 2-3 days. As per our Toyota and Mitsubishi vehicles, Toyota North Edsa and Mits-Carworld are excellent Service Centers. For KIA Service, could someone recommend some place better?
