Akala ko rin ng ma experience ko yung ganyang symptom, na yung tranny ko na ang may problema kaya dinala ko sa casa for OBD, kaso walang nakitang problema sa computer. Nalaman na lang namin na wala na sa timing/palyado ng buksan namin ang makina for timing belt replacement. HTH.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, boquito. Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope that the damage to your Carnival can be remedied without too much financial burden on your part.

...Has anybody in this thread experienced problems with their transmissions? I have a local Carnival 2000 Model with Automatic Transmission. Kapag malamig pa ung engine ok naman ung hatak niya but when umiinit na nawawala na ung power...

May nabanggit si diesoline dati na issue related sa engine temperature sensor na may kinalaman sa degradation in performance ng makina. you're experience is nothing to mine on our carnival and still were keeping it. well maybe for 2 more years or so.

here are the experiences from worst to bad:

- broke down on a small province in pampanga (floridablanca to be exact) on my way home, at night. tow truck came all the way from manila and we had to pay 5k to get it towed at our house. turned out my alternator bearing gave way affecting everything. alternator, power steering and water pump. it even snapped the fan belt. the moment the belt snapped was scary. heard a loud snapping noise and the steering wheel became heavy. and the engine died. so also the brakes became heavy so i had to use the parking brake so slow down the car. had to wait five hours for the tow truck to arrive.

reason why the alternator bearing gave way? dunno. it started acting up weeks ago but i did not immediately paid attention. that's what i got for ignoring it

- december 05' started to notice a grinding noise on the left side of the engine. posted it here and everyone concluded that it was the dreaded timing chain. brought it to signet edsa and they confirmed it. left the van for two days and paid a bill of 35k.

- we bought this van back in 2003 for 600k after only 3 years, the resale value has been reduced to half.

have you guys experienced your headlight lenses turning yellow?

ive also seen a couple of gen1 carnivals and sedonas that suffered from the same fate. had it cleaned at eclipse enterprises * banawe. cost me 600 for each headlight. they did a pretty good job. sorry no pics. hehehe..

also replaced the fog lamp bulb. mahal pala ng isa non! 400 each.

paps san ka nag paayos ng bearing sa alternator mo? I just got my carnival from my suking talyer, naputol ang timing belt, so kailangan i top overhaul. basag ang 2 rocker arm, 3 valves ang may singaw, palit lahat ng valve seals and nag palit na rin ako nung dalawang fan belt. still nakakarining ako ng whining sound sa may engine ko.

Mga sirs, hindi po akin yung talyer, mukhang namis-interpret po yung post ko. meron lang po akong dinadalhang talyer na ok naman gumawa. pwede ko po kayong samahan kung kailangan. it is located along the hiway going to teresa just in front of flying v. the proprietor is willy. i can pm you his number if you're interested.

btw, the operator of the bus that hit me is giving me the run around when i insisted that my car be serviced in a shop of my choice, any advice that you can give me guys?

Ano na mileage ng carnival mo? Nakapagpalit ka na ba ng timing belt mo?
Had that symptoms before with my carnival, pag mainit na ang makina ay nawawalan ng hatak, even ang aircon ay humina at bumababa ang RPM.

We,ve found out na jumped na pala ang timing belt at may signs of breakage na kaya palyado na ang takbo niya. Funny thing is that hindi siya nagbebelch ng black smoke kaya hindi namin naisip na it may be related sa timing belt.

Changed my timing belt and all the tensioners and bearings last june (parts and labors amounted to 12,500) and since then ay okay na. Logged 10k kms na walang problema. Have your timing belt checked ASAP, mahirap ng maputulan at baka matuloy sa major overhaul.

Nagpalit na ako ng timing belt and the chain. Mga 4 months ago. original parts pa ang ginamit ko so i doubt it kung ung timing belt ang problem.
