April 15th, 2007 01:48 PM #1691Bisoy, T'was the intake to the intercooler (the square thingy atop your engine) where oily residue accumulates, sometimes. The hose from the turbo to the intercooler is removed, then wipe the inside of that elbow joint to the intercooler.
As far as I can recall... too lazy to scan past threads

The crankshaft pulley on our carnival was also replaced before, due my complaints of unusual noises when i start it in the morning. delikado pala iyon ah. good thing nothing bad happened to you bisoy.
bought 2 brand new center caps for carnival * banawe for 650 each. sana wag ng mawala uli.
Also had my Driveshaft boots replaced * Zee Carplus. Toti is currently on a trip to China. While they were at it, my balljoints were also injected. Rack ends and Tie rods are still stiff, inspected it myself.
Turns out Signet EDSA replaced the wrong Strut bar bushing - is that what we call it? - (or they didnt replace it at all)when i asked them to.
Was complaining to Zee about an irritating squeaking sound, their initial diagnosis was those bushings. after they replaced it, voila. no more noise. hmmm. i think i was ripped off by signet EDSA ah..
Got locked out of the Van just last holy week and all of my spare keys are inside. it was already late, so the locksmith i knew is already sound asleep. instead of breaking the glass, we decided to saw off the "buttons" that holds the rear quarter glass.
Had to run with packaging tape covering the broken window. To my surprise, Casa (Signet Distributors EDSA & Kia Motors Marikina) and even Columbian Motors does not carry this specific part. Also tried Auto Supply but still no luck. finally got hold of them through an Auto Glass Shop in Banawe for 50 pesos each.
btw heres what im talking about:

April 15th, 2007 10:51 PM #1693benchph1,
were you locked out from your car because your carnival had an alarm that automatically locks the car if left idle and running for sometime? Magpapa install palang ako ng alarm kasi para mas safe and mas convenient with the keyless entry, pero iniisip meron nga atang autolock mechanism din yun. Isip ko mag pa duplicate nalang ako ng cardkey para lagay ko sa wallet.
Bisoy,
yung brake ko rin dati nagiging matigas pag inaapakan. pinatignan namin sa mekanik at electrician, they found out na meron naka disconnect na vacuum tube. Ok na yung bake ngayon. pero yung electrician advise me na kung gusto ko mas lumakas yung brake, pa ugrade ko daw yung alternator to a more powerfull alternator. mahina ata yung orig na alternator ng carnival gen1.

April 16th, 2007 07:58 AM #1694daco tyan, the intake of our van is the one behind the radiator, right? (facing the firewall) on top of the right side of the intake is a square thing. is this the one you are talking about? i think there's a hose plumbed to the intercooler.
benchph1, ano yung first picture? hindi kasi klaro.
beamme, like what alternator drops into our carnival at mas mataas na amperage? after fixing the pulley problem, i havent encountered any problems yet re brakes, steering and aircon. sabi naman ng mechanic ko, pwede daw mas malaking hydrovac sa brakes kung gusto ko ng mas malakas na brake. for me, as long as it is functioning well, ok pa naman.
i have 2 questions sana. i hope someone can answer them:
1) any long term negative effect on the solid pulley? what i did was remove the rubber damper and sleeved it with metal. thats what im using kasi now.
2) can we adjust height ng front suspension natin? i have a gen 1 commercial unit carnival. parati kasi sumasayad sa gutter or mataas na humps.
thanks

Last edited by beamme; April 16th, 2007 at 08:56 PM. Reason: typo

April 18th, 2007 09:09 PM #1700Whew! Good thing it wasn't that bad (I hope). The van overheated 2 days ago and I feared the engine went bust. My wife, who drives the van, along with our children, called me up and told me something was wrong with the van and that there was smoke (steam)coming out. I told her to stop and park the van where she was. I went to see them and had the van towed to Delta Motors (along Quezon Blvd.) Delta motors told me today that the pressure hose broke and that one of the fuel nozzles was leaking. They fixed everything and the van should be ready by tomorrow. I hope that is all.
The towing was free, courtesy of BPI Petron Mastercard roadside assistance. I am not bragging, only saying that the service was good and quick. It is my first time to call and ask for roadside assistance. I can say I was happy with the service. BPI sent an eight wheeler flat bed tow truck (from IBERO) and hauled the van to Delta Motors. btw, I am not from BPI nor do I work for Mastercard.
When I get the van tomorrow or Friday, I will try to find out why the hose broke and post my findings. We had just come from Isabela last week, a 12 hour trip one-way, and had not experienced any problems with the Carnival whatsoever.
Are they on track to surpass last year's sales?
