    ten45,

Glad you got your window glass replaced right away.

Hindi pa ako nakaranas ng nag-crack na salamin dahil sa init. My Carnival was bathed in my former office's open parking lot every day for 2 years and nothing happened to the glass. Mas posible siguro yung small stone theory, kasi tatlong beses na ako nabasagan ng salamin sa highway dahil sa impact ng mga small stone at high speed I travel on the provincial highway daily, BTW, so the odds of accidents like this happening to me are greater.

    slyfox,

can you tell us the situation why you think wheels is ripping you off?

if you are near edsa/ortigas business district. i can recommend Signet Distributors Mandaluyong. So far they have treated me well during my last few repairs on my carnival. unfortunately wala na si cris, yung kilala kong service advisor. but still the people in there know me well. malapit lang kasi sa megamall/shangrila ito kaya convenient. its just an mrt ride away.

Has anyone experienced their tires going oblong? i thought it was just the poor quality of the stock hankooks. but it also happened on two of my dunlop rv501's. i believe the tires are still 70-60% thread life, but as of now, sobrang oblong na. to the point na papalitan mo na. Maybe something is wrong with one or two of our canival's underchassis component, reason behind my tires going oblong prematurely.

im now trying goodyear forteras. nagdownsize lang ako from 215 to 205 kasi wala ng choice during that time. but still, the forteras performed well during our batangas trip. a lot of paved road and a few rough road driving. just a bit of difference with rv501 in terms of grip.

I also frequented Signet EDSA-Mandaluyong when I lived nearby. Try looking for Bong (Service advisor) if he's still there, he'll take good care of your carnival. I go to Rapide alabang now since I moved to Daang-hari in Bacoor.

The Hankook tires are really prone to go oblong, aside from bursting which happened twice to me. Once in SLEX and once in NCLEX, hirap talagang magpalit ng gulong ng carnival Another brand that went oblong in my carnival was Pirelli. I thought I got a bargain at PhP 2,200 but it only lasted for two weeks.

I'm now sticking to Yokohama Geolanders, to hell with the imported tires.

thanks for the tips guys. our carnival is for family use and not my personal ride. that means i'm not the one who maintains it. upon checking the records recently i noticed that we've amassed almost 80k worth of repairs from wheels erod. most surprising was the change in timing chain with just over 30Tkms in the odo. yun daw yung maingay sabi ng service advisor. our driver also said that everytime he has change oil they find something to fix and after that's fixed he brings it back the next day coz something else got broken (like the misallignment of AC louvres, etc.) so when i personally went to talk to the advisor he tells me na sirain talaga yang carnival park II kasi imported. wtf?! not a very wise comment from a kia person. anyways im looking for a shop where they give a complete diagnosis of what needs to be fixed once and for all.

oh by the way what's the usual inflation of your tires? our first set did get oblong. was thinking it was wear and tear and because it was under-inflated. thanks again for the help!

    Slyfox,

I too, experienced terrible service at that e. rod. Kia service center. They find all sorts of things to replace and fix over and above what you actually came for. My worst experience was having my engine overhauled (under warranty) at Kia e.rod. They did a terrible job. That service center is fond of replacing parts way ahead of schedule like replacing my fan belt after only 5K kms! For maintenace and mechanical repairs, I go to a shop called Baron is near the corner of Quezon Avenue and West Avenue. The shop is near a former restaurant called Alps. For electrical repairs I go to Wizard along Tomas Morato. It is important though that you try to understand what is wrong with the vehicle. This way you can narrow down or ask the mechanic the right questions. Otherwise a shop might fix your vehicle wholesale when you all that was needed was some minor adjustment.
I have not found a shop that is able to demonstrate good service on all aspects of car repair but have found shops that CLAIM to be good on everything. The Kia Delta in Cubao is one such example. Instead I go to specialists as the need arises.

On the comment "sirain talaga yang carnival park II kasi imported." I think generally, Kia parts and craftsmanship have some more to go compared to Japanese cars. I also find the parts expensive.

    salonika,

thnx for the reply. first thing that came into mind was imported kasi ang dunlop rv501's at baka hindi suited sa philippine tropical climate. let us see how my (supposedly tropically suited) new forteras will do.
nagtaka lang kasi ako sa rv501's ni mikey177, as of now ok pa rin. or maybe they need frequent using? twice a week lang kasi magamit ang carnival pang coding ni ko at ni erpats, at occasional family trips.

i've just discovered na wala palang built-in microfilter ang gen1 carnival. need to go a few pages back for the details

my opinion about the parkII carnival, wheels is just trying to make you feel guilty because they didn't buy your unit from them, being a gray market unit. another thing, being a top of the line model with all the bells and whistles, arguably, there are really a lot of things to go wrong. kahit nga yung local spec LS namin medyo sumasakit na ang ulo ko

let me tell you my experience or was it what they experienced when the guys at kia marikina told me na "sirain ang carnival, kasi korean made". well, i e-mailed the technical support * kia motors korea, forwarded it to apollo rosal, the head technical service manager of columbian motors, which then called me and asked for the guys that made that remark. last thing i know, those guys were sent at the plant to have a brand familiarization seminar. or was it a "spanking" from the big bosses in columbian?

    ngapala,

check this out guys, new website ng new carnival
