Hehe. Umpisa kaya tayo ng Kia Sedona broken door handle woes thread?

Has anyone had their door handle break within the warranty period? Mine broke after more than 4 years of heavy use. I'm just curious as to what the lifespan for those plastic handles is, and whether I should buy an additional handle the next time I'm in Quezon City in anticipation of a breakage on the passenger side sliding door.

I'm about to change all 4 tires this weekend, would just like to ask....

How are the Dunlop Eco EC201's holding up compared to the Lemans RV501?
Did the 201's solve/reduce the tire wear on the front mounted tires?
Any idea how much the EC201 and the RV501 costs today?
Which would you recommend the EC201 or the RV501?

    Thanks! and Happy New Year!!!

    Sir Jordan,

I just bought 2 RV501 last November for 3,400/piece at Binan, Laguna. Maybe it is much cheaper in Metro Manila. But as per info supplied by my tire supplier, prices of tires will increase by January and in fact a new price list was already prepared as early as November.

EC 201 is much cheaper by a few hundred lang. Wag kang kukuha ng Dunlop SP 70 because it is 4 ply only. We have a tire blow out at SLEX last haloween with that tire, kaya pinalitan ko uli ng RV 501 (6 ply) yung rear tires ko. The RV 501 is more suited for heavy vehicles like our rides. (BTW, RV means recreational vehicles according to my supplier).

SP70e is what I'm currently using, apparently it's a phased-out model and was replaced by the EC201 which is also 4 ply.

    Its RV501 then!

I asked around, and they qouted me for 3,200/tire. I'll be replacing all 4, I wonder if anybody can point me to a cheaper shop.

    Thanks!

Since the discussion is on tires, I would like to get your opinion on Dunlop Sport 601 tires. I have been using these after the stock Hankook tires wore out. Are these OK or there better ones out there? How do they compare to the RV501 or other tires? Thanks.

    jordan,

I also prefer the LeMans RV501 because of its water channel, but I cannot find a supplier here in the province so I opted for the EC201. The 201s are doing well. The set I'm using has been on my Sedona for over a year now (around 40,000-km), and I plan to replace them this summer when the tread has worn down some more.

Mas mahal ang gulong sa probinsya kaya hanap ka na lang ng shop sa Metro Manila na maganda ang presyo. There are some threads on Tsikot on where to find tires at good prices.

The tread wear patterns for both types of tires for my vehicle are similar, so getting either should work well for you, but I really like the RV501s... sana may magbenta dito sa probinsya

jordan::: my EC201s shoulder blocks wore down just as fast as the RV501s. maybe it's because of the roads i drive thru most of the time (read kennon road and marcos highway). in fact, the whiskers on the brand new tires disappeared on my first run down marcos highway.

for sure, the RV501s look good. especially the off-center water channel that mikey177 mentioned. these tires also have some off-roading capability hence the RV tag. in real terms, this might mean that they might have some added resistance to sharp objects as compared to regular road tires.

however, the asymmetrical design that makes the RV look so cool is also its weakness vis a vis front tire wear.

i had the tires rotated two days ago and the tire shop's supervisor remounted the tire so that this time the worn outer tread is on the inner side of the rim. that wheel was then placed on the rear. voila!! no more unsightly worn shoulder blocks. at least, for the time being, the tires all look relatively the same again. btw, this can only be done to tires with bi-directional tread. it cannot be done with the LM501 RV.

    welcome to the thread, shauntot.
this is how my last set of RV501s looked like when i changed them.

btw, if you like the water evacuation channel of the RV501, the EC201 has two (or four) of them!

note the worn-down whiskers on the outer shoulder block of the tire. this photo was taken several kilometers after the tires were installed.

    * mikey177 & diesoline Thanks!

Mostly, I drive in the city (home to clinic/hospital) with occassional trips to the province (Pangasinan) during the Holy Week and the Christmas Break.

This is also my concern, since with the the EC201, you can switch the inner portion with the outer or vice versa if any of the sides get worn-out.... BUT since you've mentioned that they more or less wear-out at the same time, I might as well get the RV501 for these infos from you guys...

    Thanks again!

I'm getting the RV501 hopefully tomorrow if the shop is open.... last question: Is 3,200/tire a good price?

hi guys, happy new year! hows everyone? hope all their carnivals and sedonas are in tip top shape.

anyway just want to share another experience on our carnival. Just warped the rotors for good and replaced it. cost 3,200 each. i've asked around, OEM costs 3k and the japan made replacements costs only half of that. bought the OEM. and btw had this done in rapide.

my front dampers are also due for replacement. mechanic noticed a leak and i confirmed it. OEM costs a mind numbing 5k each. while the KYB-made ones are only 3800k for a piece. i already have these installed on the back, so im going to opt for KYB's.

and lastly, has anyone tried to fill nitrogen on their tires? heard a lot of good comments about this particularly new offering. but sadly im quite dissapointed with what i "felt" on our carnival. anyway here it goes, had all my RV501's nitro-filled to 35 psi. and noticed the ride to be a bit wobbly, and it becomes worse on high speed, it really feels unstable, it feels like the sidewall is flexing. so i consulted some gurus and they told me to increase the pressure. added another 2 psi, but im sad to report that its just as bad. tsk. tsk. im switching back to compressed air first thing tommorow morning.
