Try to check out the former owner's other cars and his home to have an idea of how well he takes care of his belongings.

mikey177,
i'ts diesel 2.9 tdi, grey market nga i think coz we're not familiar sa models ng carnival/sedona.
ecport/OTEP,
thanks sa tips
the unit is displayed sa car exchange kaya baka mahirap na ma check background ng previous owner.
anyway by January pa sya kukuha so we have still time to look for other units.

C190,
ecport pretty much covered the things to look out for.
Since the unit is only a year old and has gone only 30,000 km, there should not be any major engine parts replaced yet, like timing belt (dapat 70,000 km pa) or engine supports.
If you can, ask for service records to see how the unit was maintained. The PMS interval for the Carnival is every 5,000 km. After driving the unit, check for any leaks under the van or in the engine bay. Better yet, have the owner drive the unit first to see if he observes the proper warm-up and cooldown procedures for the turbodiesel engineDapat, pag malamig pa yung makina, below 2,000 rpm lang ang takbo. Tapos, bago i-off yung engine, dapat pinapalamig ng mga 30 seconds to 3 minutes, depende kung gaano kabilis o ka-rigorous yung pagtakbo.
Also, check for black smoke when accelerating. If there is black smoke that doesn't go away even after the first hard acceleration, then the unit was probably not maintained well.

Guys help naman. Tumulo sa carpet ng carnival ko yung katas ng pinamili naming seafoods. We brought it to to a car cleaner and have it shampooed pero hindi pa rin naalis yung masamang amoy. Baka naman may maisuggest kayo? TIA.

C190, is the unit you're referring to a white one found in one of the pasig car exchanges? if so, you better check for collision damage on the van.
my sister-in-law is so enamored with the carnival that she and her husband are closing a deal on a three-year old RS sedona soon.

December 11th, 2006 01:02 AM #1477naku, lalo na ang katas ng shrimps, weeks bago yan mawala. You will have to use lysol solution, sabay maglagay ng arm and hammer to absorb the smell, aerate in under the sun, carpet shampoo. But there will still be a smell.
Guys, I noticed when I turn the steering wheel left or right, tumitigas ng konti, then malambot, na parang ang daming bald spot ang gulong. Sabi ng mekaniko, kailangan daw ilubricate ang idler something (don't think he meant the idler arm) in the steering column, yun daw ang sakit ng kia. Fortunately (unfortunately), the latest rains from the seniang typhoon, nawala yung problema. I was planning to have it lubricated on Monday. Have any of you experienced this?

Thanks for the replies guys! Pusit, isda, hipon and alimasag ang pinamili namin last tuesday sa dalahican in lucena. Unfortunately, butas pala yung cooler na pinaglagyan namin
Kaya ayun.... ang bantot. Shampoeed it twice, sprayed lysol and placed charcoals inside pero mabaho pa rin.

This i learned the hard way, i've used replacement hoses and fabricated pressure hose para makatipid, the result is tumigas at umingay ang steering niya. Ibinalik ko sa oem ng kia and normal na uli. Lessons learned... used original parts para makasiguro.
Unlike sa liteace namin, kahit puro replacement parts lang ok na, maselan pala ang kia's.
