Merry xmas to all!

Parang matindi din ang asking nila for the fuel filter.

December 6th, 2006 09:29 AM #1465Witch,
My two cents. You might want to try and have them fix your carnival's computer box first instead of having the whole lot fixed. This way, you know which part has failed and needs to be fixed. I am not sure why you need to have the fuel pump and filter replaced unless the mechanic or shop isn't sure what is really wrong and is attempting to do a "wholesale" repair of your vehicle.
Another approach is to have the fuel pump fixed first.

Witch,
When I had my Sedona serviced at Wheels E. Rodriguez last Feb., they replaced the alternator & aircon belts, along with the alternator auto tensioner and an idler pulley. The labor cost for this lot of work was P546.
I'm not aware of how much a gas fuel filter costs, but at Wheels the OEM diesel fuel filter costs P782.
Anyway, if it's feasible maybe you could ask Kia Quezon Ave for a price quote for the parts and services you need to have done.
Also, does the shop you're at now offer any warranty for the work they will do?

December 8th, 2006 07:43 AM #1467Thanks to you guys who took time in giving comments for the prices I listed. I am now negotiating with the owner for the possible discounts base on your inputs...ibang klase talaga ang thread na ito, very productive. So far, warranted naman daw lahat ng works. Again, thanks for all your inputs.

My sister in law is planning to get a 05' kia carnival park 2 a/t with dunlop tires and 30k odo for P670th. Tama ba presyo o mahal?
Ano ba dapat i check o tignan or tips before buying, di kami sanay sa carnival.

C190,
Is the unit a diesel or gas-powered Carnival? When you said it was a Park 2, I'm assuming you mean it's a grey market unit, tama ba?

At 30K mileage for a 1 year old Carnival means it was driven at an average of 2,500 Kms/month (more if the van is less than a year old). This tells me it was used quite extensively. Check engine power and performance by driving uphill, then check the temp and oil levels or signs for any oil leaking out. If it is indeed a year old, then the seats and the carpet should still be relatively new. The driver's seat should provide an indication on how often the van has been used. Essentially watch out for general wear and tear signs as this must be consistent with a 1 year old vehicle.
Check out how the front tires too. Tread wear should be even. PHP 670K looks reasonable. Find out where the owner lives and works as this will give you an idea of daily use and what streets the owner goes through. I hope the owner is not from Malabon or a flood prone area.
