You haven't had a tune-up/change oil in 2 years?? That's incredible!
Change oil should be done every 5,000 km or 3 months depending on how much you use the car. Tune-ups consists of change oil, change oil filter, change sparkplugs, clean/replace air filter, and timing. This is part of preventive maintenance to keep your car in tip-top shape. Kahit walang symptoms ang car mo you should still regularly do tune-ups.
If you're near mandaluyong speedyfix is highly recommendedfor all your automobile maintenance needs. Otherwise you local trusted mechanic should do.

August 31st, 2008 07:51 PM #185^ If I remember it right, my car used to have a leak or something so I kept on buying oil last 2007 until it was fixed...and in my km reading, since my last change oil, the car ran for 7000kms to date. Question, what could be the disadvantage of not having my oil changed every 5k km?
Are mechanices in gasoline stations safe? Could you please answer my other questions as well? I'm a girl so I really dont know much about cars except to drive them. So would really appreciate all the help.

Since you are girl, maghanap ka na lang ng bf to help you fix your car.. (joke only).. Seriously, I am not familiar in QC but I supposed if it just a normal oil change, any gas station will do.. Observe mo na lang kung madami nagpapawaga dun chances are ok yun...
btw, kung 2006 ka pa last oil change, better to have the oil change, kaysa mag stack up ang engine mo, mas malaki pa ang problema mo..

September 5th, 2008 12:01 AM #187Oki thanks. I've been reading some threads re: change oil and mejo naguluhan lang ako what oil to use, meron mga nagsusuggest ng RP, Motul, etc.
I'm not a racer naman or anything, I just use my car for work and some gimiks but madalang naman yung mahabang byahe, usually, work-home lang everyday. Are shell/petron oils ok or better ba if mga RP ang gamitin? I mean, if RP ba ang gamitin, mas tatagal pa than 5000kms ang next change oil?

> light bulbs
> spark plugs
> filters and oil

I think the best way to minimize being short-changed on your purchase is to try to have a trusted mechanic accompany you when inspecting a prospective buy.
