Looking at the specs sheet, it seems the EX mid-range variant is the best bang for the buck deal. ₱1.5M for the TOTL seems a bit steep considering the Subaru XV 2.0i-S is just around the corner at ₱1,618,000 (and with the discounts available now, this will be a better deal than the SX Seltos).
Between the 2, I’d compare the fuel efficiency. Subaru with the bigger engine & AWD, Seltos with the smaller, Atkinson cycle engine.

UPDATE: Finally saw the new SELTOS in the metal * Ayala Mall Nuvali, Sta Rosa Laguna over the weekend.

First impressions - a bit smaller than how I imagined it would be but totally good-looking crossover.

Here are some info I got from my brief inspection if the car and quick chat with the agent (I was there for a concert which was already about to start).

    - All variants coming in will carry the 2.0L Nu Atkinson Gasoline Engine.
    - Arrival of the top of the line - GT Line (phun intended) with diesel engine may or may not happen due to pricing concerns which I will clarify in a bit below.
    - For now only 3 trims are available with some details as emailed by agent:

    LX (Base/Entry Model) 1,098,000
    17" Alloy wheels
    8* touchscreen audio
    Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
    Rear View Camera
    Halogen headlamps
    Electric adjust side view mirrors
    Fabric seats
    Multifunction steering wheel
    Keyless entry
    Multifunction Display
    Driver and Fr. Passenger Airbags
    Antilock Brake System (ABS)
    6 Speakers
    Bluetooth & USB connectivity
    Manual Air-conditioning

    "EX (advantage)" 1,198,000
    LED tail lights
    Beltline satin finish
LED DRL, LED position lamps (front grille)
    Radiator grille chrome trim
    Front fog lamps
    Side turn lamps at mirrors
    Roof rail
    Cruise control
    Fabric+leatherette seats

    "SX (advantage)" 1,498,000
    LED headlamps, fog lamps
    LED tail lights
    Beltline satin finish
    Front side + curtain airbags
    Electronic stability control (ESC/ESP)
    Smart Entry
    Auto Climate Conditioning
    Chrome door inside handle
Leather steering wheel and gear knob
    Leatherette sliding console box
    Rear parking sensor
    Engine immobilizer

And yes no panoramic sunroof even for the SX trim. But ALL variants will sport the same tires / rims of the top model GT LINE - as seen in attached photo (and as sales guy said)

Colors may vary depending on stock but what was on display was the yellow gold color if Im not mistaken

    seltos.jpg

Again, its a great looking crossover but the 1.5M price tag tho maybe due to the 2.0 engine, may seem a bit too steep a price tag personally speaking.

But if you DO have the money to burn, I think it will still be worth it.

How's the quality of the interior, particularly the quality and texture of the plastics?

Why is that ESC feature costing a fortune? I mean does it really cost over 200,000 pesos to have it on there? The lack of this safety feature makes the base and mid trim look under done for a 1M+ cuv. Even the Suzuki's Vitara GL and GLX have ESC as standard. Its just funny they use the word "supplied" on their website instead of "standard"

It was already early evening and the lights in the KIA display booth were off due to the ongoing concert then.

But even so, yes personally speaking I felt the plastics were still pretty good to the touch and not really really bad as other cars. I guess the plastic were still pretty well made. Same goes for the plastic knobs / switches and buttons on the steering wheel and even the seats which was a combo of leather and fabric.

Certainly not luxury car levels but definitely not cheap as hell like either

Other issues I just recalled is that it did not have a fold down arm-rest at the back and no rear air vents either.

And thats the higher level trim too so thats minus points if you ask me.

Im definitely with you on this one, I thought ESCs already come as standard these days for cars in this category in particular. And again yes, for a car priced more than a million that should have been already installed as standard across all variants.

I hope KIA realizes this (or miraculously read this article and grew a conscience =) and re-adjust their prices accordingly.

That said, the other lowest variant should only be priced below 1M and the mid-variant slight above 1M only.

But again it may perhaps be due to the 2.0 engine?
