Well, technically the carnivals' competitors are the odyssey and Sienna. Which are priced way way more. The super grandia is not even in the same league, comfort and refinement wise.

True. But Kia already has a V6 7-seater Carnival for 2.3M which has almost all the bells and whistles. The 11-seater is bare and not worth 2.1M. Or maybe it's a ploy to upsell to the 7-seater variant? Who knows.

I just checked out the Carnival at Kia Acropolis yesterday, according to the salesperson I talked to, the V6 gas variant is gone because of very low demand for it. There are only 2 variants now, the 7 seat and 11 seat version CRDI, the 7 seat version has had some features removed namely the sunroof and the leather seats which is fine by me. Price difference between both versions is 150k, 2.095M for the 11 seater and 2.245M for the 7 seat version. Having compared both, I'm inclined to get the 7 seater because its really cramped inside the 11 seater. I'm planning to get one for my dad to replace his Grand Starex because he's having a bit of difficulty getting in the front passenger seat. I find the lower ground clearance of the Carnival to be a perfect fit for my dad.

Do they have the new kia sorento? 4x2 and only 1.8m... It doesnt have the features of that 7seat carnival though.

If at the current pricing, the 7 seater might be more convincing for me due to its proper 2nd row captain seats and flexibility of stowable 3rd row seats. Though I really couldn't understand why they had to increase the price of 11 seater so much when they were having good number of sales in previous pricing.

The pricing of Sorento is interesting. A diesel midsize crossover similar to the price of previous gen Mazda Cx9, though the feature lists doesn't seem to cut it for the price. Personally I would like to see some 100-150k discount for it to be a good value for money.

By the way, how tall is your father? Is his hip at level with the seats?

My senior citizen dad is surprisingly having a hard time climbing in to our Carnival because of its relatively high floor and low ceiling. And at 5'7, the seats are placed a bit higher than his hips, so he can't naturally sit down from outside.

My dad is around 5"6, but comparatively speaking, it easier for him to ride in our gray market Toyota Sienna than in the Starex

Well Starex involves a stepping up to get in..
If you can afford it, why not an Alphard? Low ride height, high ceiling, ultra comfy seats and superior space

Sayang lang yung features ng Alphard sa dad ko since he doesn't want to sit at the back saka we want a diesel like his Grand Starex para matipid for daily use
