September 16th, 2010 11:07 AM #1703Regarding the accent/ mood lamp, it was part of the Kia sorento/ soul global recall. I believe the succeeding units will be fine already.
Either of the 2 would be a good choice. It will now depend on the budget that you have, the availability of the sorento and the freebies that would come with the unit.
The factors that I considered to choose the Sorento over the facelifted Santa Fe is because I previously own one, and in 1 or 2 years time the new model Santa fe will come out. That would make the 2010 Santa fe look an "older model", though it's not.
It is also to your advantage to read the comparative analysis Sir Koji Kabuto is offering (Montero vs. SF) or visit the website of SFCP to have a good idea of which car would fit you and your family.

September 16th, 2010 11:57 AM #1704Edsa-Mandaluyong Signet! I really recommend them for great after sales service. They will really take care of your car.
Now...my auto door lock was activated...the lock will automatically locks when my Sorento reaches 20km/hr. Also the accent/mood lamp electricals were already replaced..natagalan nga lang kasi wala silang special tools to remove other parts...but its ok with me as long as the accept the error and they immediately replaced it for free!
BTW, the auto door lock at 20km/hr is also free of charge.

September 16th, 2010 07:54 PM #1709sorry, i cannot do a comparo between the two since i do not know anybody who owns a sorento. my only experience with the sorento was during the test drive which lasted a few minutes only and i was impressed.
the interiors are nice. looks and feels expensive. interior space was nice too. the ride quality, i think, is about the same as the SF. 3rd row is useable just like the SF. a 5'7" person can sit comfortably. but just like in the SF, once you use the 3rd row, the luggage space is limited to small bags only.
one more thing, the sorento has the much acclaimed "smart key" system and push button start. the SF do not. sorento also offers different upholstery colors (depending on the body color).
we were actually eyeing the sorento. but since we cannot wait indefinitely and we needed an suv asap, we bought a SF instead. which we got in 2 days time. if the sorento didn't do a face lift and upgraded with the same engine and tranny as the sorento, i would have bought other models. i'm not saying that the "old" SF models are not good, i simply prefer the ReVGT engine and the 6spd A/T.
