June 24th, 2010 10:43 AM #1241The Kia Carens beats the Sorento when it comes to speed. If you read the Kia Carens thread, and also the "fastest speed", etc. you'd notice that several Kia Carens owner, including myself have gone beyond 200 kph on the SCTEX. I think I was the 3rd or 4th to break the "sound barrier" using a CRDI diesel with VGT. But never race a Porsche Cayenne...whoever was driving that rust-colored Cayenne sure left me standing still at 205 kph.
I love the Sorento and in fact I test drove the 2010 when I was at Kia Pasig. Everything is impressive including the huge cabin and the keyless starter, cruise-control, etc. I almost went overboard and traded my Carens in if not for the trade-in price they were offering me.
Lastly, there's nothing you can do about the speed-limiter except perhaps to screw your ECU so it is best to just leave it alone. No one buys the Sorento for speed, though it's fast. I love the Sorento for its commanding looks; kung baga "tabi kayong lahat at eto na si Pogi"

June 24th, 2010 02:52 PM #1245So does this mean that the similarly engined Santa Fe does not have a speed limiter? Its not that you would want to be breaching 190 often, its just annoying, knowing that your vehicle is capable of doing more and is hindered from doing so by the manufacturer, against your will.
