Mine is a manual trans CRDi. I still continue to feel the "pulsating" clutch was mentioned by sir Yapoy86 especially when my left foot is at rest at the clutch pedal. I initially thought it was because bago pa yung clutch at hindi lpa gaano lapat. But then again, its something I have to ask Signet when I go there for my 5k pms (tagal pa kasi nakaka 2,800 kms+ pa lang ako in a span of two months).
Pag paakyat ako ng first gear, I don't seem to get a boost at feeling ko medyo bitin ang power. But when I change to second gear (specially sa paakyat), that's the time I get a real boost of power. And even if I release the accelerator pedal, it still powers it way forward. I'm beginning to think this has something to do with the pulsating clutch or maybe it was really designed that way.

thanks for your comment guys... it does validate my testdrive...
i think i can live with the pulsating clutch kasi on most occassion i might not notice it... the off-boost power hhhm, maybe i can forgive it kasi once the WAVE of power arrives naman eh its sure to bring a smile to most drivers faces. haha.
ngayon eh medyo nalilito na 'ko (i like Hatchbacks).... Carens 2.0 6MT CrDi or 2008 Jazz (5A/T + Paddle shifter?) hahaha.
laki kasi ng tinaas ng presyo ng Carens,,,ang entry Model ay Php1.05M na....if i get the Jazz i can have Php200K savings with auto convenience. Less the 2extra seats and None of the TORQUE of the common rail diesels provide......

September 6th, 2008 09:51 AM #2685you can also look at carens gas variants..just don't know if this is still available.. price is around 900k plus...
well sa carens 1st gear is parang kulang sa boost.. maybe they designed it as really LOW gear kaya hindi maramdaman yung boost.. but sa 2nd gear mabilis ang arangkada and you will be even pulled back to your seat sa lakas kahit 7 kayo sakay...sabi nga nung mga sumakay nag stop daw yung breathing nila pag humataw yung carens... better harness that high torque, i shift early from 1st to 2nd gear to use the torque except when climbing

parakitoJDM, it depends on what you need, ako pag maliit lang family ko i might have bought either a toyota yaris or a honda fit, but i have 3kids + wife + in-laws, so kailangan talaga a 7seater mpv, and the kia carens really fit my needs, not too big and not too small
. Hope this helps,

never felt the pulsating clutch. as for the power, it is like power on demand, strong torque, yes especially at the start of 2nd gear.
if your options are narrowed down to jazz and carens, it's quite a tough one. both cars are great looking. but i will stick to the carens, it vanquished all my fears regarding the kia brand.
i bought my unit with my eyes closed ( first few units, 2007) with fear it might see the misfortunes of the other korean brands of before, but so far, seeing this thread and owning the car, it gives a satisfying feeling that maybe we made the right choice.

September 7th, 2008 11:13 PM #2689yes its Wave of Torque is really intoxicating isn't it? esp. when its on boost....the gasoline powered Outlander 2.4 felt pretty much gutless compared to the CrDi....
yes and so it seems Hyundai/Kia has really made great strides in Quality improvement....no doubt about it.... only time will tell if it would last as long as the well built Toyota's of yore... that's really tough and reliable. actually last March Kia Pasay was offering me the TestDrive unit for a mere Php750,000 (after the 15%discount).... now its Php300K more....pero at that time kasi i had to Invest the money on another thing... so i cant really say regretful for not not getting it at that time.... well probably i can settle for a 2nd. hand Carens.anybody selling out there? pls PM me..haha!

hi, recently my wife bought a kia carens crdi ex a/t, the color is urban gray. i've been reading post regarding the carens and most of the comments are on the positive. i'm really exited to take my vacation so i can drive this car my self but i'll have to wait until march of 2009. taking this car was a tough decision for us the options were captiva, tucson and the outlander. in the end the carens was our choice coz it's a 7 seater and most of all the price. reading posts from this forum really helped us in choosing the carens so more power to every one and thanks a lot.
They probably sold so few cars last year that even a 112% increase still hardly makes a change in...
