+1 here. I never owned a isuzu trooper but what's the viscosity of tranny & engine oil stated in the manual? Im guessing baka same lang naman so no point of discussion here.

even sa transmission ng mga elf trucks ng isuzu, they recommend the 5W-40 engine oil. imo, isuzu spec'd engine oil for its transmissions ay dahil siguro mas prone sa increased wear and tear ang synchronizers kapag gear oil kesa engine oil. since gear oil is more viscous than engine oil, mas matagal ang flow to where it needs to be, baka hirap ang synchro rings to cut through it (lalu na kung pudpod na yung internal grooves ng synchros).

when i said tranny oil is a hydraulic fluid I'm referring to tranny oil in general. for instance an ATF is also used as a hydraulic fluid in some power assisted steering systems, in some modern manual gearboxes like Benz, BMW etc... my mistake as I overlooked the subject heading as MT by TS. hehe

Kimbon; my trooper which has a 4JG2 engine uses 15W-40 engine oil which I also use for my tranny as specified in the manual

Once a year ba o base din sa mileage?

If I am not mistaken, the manual says every 40 thousand kilometers

Crosswind owner here (xto 2001 model). Yes i still use engine oil for the transmission of my ride, as stated in the user manual. At 290 thousand kilometers, wala pa naman ako problem sa tranny.

Even nga yung filler plug ng transmission ng crosswind, may nakalagay na use engine oil only.

Are you still using engine oil, 15W40 in your (MT) transmission?
