December 28th, 2011 03:23 AM #41for me...di naman overpricing ang mga Isuzu products dito sa Plilipinas...like other brands....
they base the pricing according to their cost of production....
like for example, ang gamit na aircon compressor ng Mitsubishi Adventure,ay MSC China made, unlike sa Isuzu Crosswind na Denso Indonesia....yung radiator ng Adventure ay locally fabricated,sa Crosswind ay Denso indonesia...yung enterteinment system ng Adventure ay made in China, samantalang sa Crosswind ay branded na JVC...
ang makina ng Adventure, made in Taiwan China..Isuzu Crosswind, Indonesia...Chinese and Indians are the most chepeast laborer in Asia...
you do the math bros...

I think it's about time that Isuzu bring a sedan here and grab the fan base made by the Accent CRDi which they abandoned. Parang yung panahon ng Isuzu Gemini.

Just like a stock market "Contrarian", this is a very smart ploy to garner more than it's share of the market. But, it sure has great risks. Many stock market "Contrarians" have become filthy rich.
If you "go against the flow", you will not have much competition in your niche, because the masses tend to go like sheep and "follow the leader", rather than venture into something different. You can then reap sales from those who dislike what everyone else is chasing.
Volkswagen did this, in a big way, with the original "Beetle" in the late forties. It was different in every way from anything else that was successful at the time.
You can be most successful as a "Contrarian" from a marketing standpoint, but you MUST have a good product. Likewise, if you buy stock market shares that everyone else shys away from......but you must buy good stock market shares!
Marketing is a most interesting study........you can never know everything. My old marketing text books from the late 60's are still relevant today.
Ciao!

a simpler explanation to what Hyundai does is Hyundai doesnt build different cars for different markets (developed countries and developing countries)
what they sell in developed countries they also sell in developing countries
unlike Japanese automakers who discriminate against developing countries (like the Phils.). they build lower cost, less safe, lower spec motor vehicles for developing countries
it's kinda insulting
Hyundai doesnt insult us with 2nd class cars. that's why Hyundai market share is eating into the market share of Japanese automakers here
Pinoy car buyers are very sophisticated. we know 2nd class when we see it

I sort of disagree that making different cars for different markets is a form of discrimination. I think it is just necessary to make different variants for different markets as different countries have different road conditions and a different marketing behaviour. let me cite an example, a well known premium car maker has cars which are called 'deep wade market' cars. These cars are spec'd to a water wading depth of 450mm instead of the standard sign off requirement of 300mm. They installed remote breathers(snorkels) to all its driveline components to make sure water ingress to its components will be avoided. They dont need this spec for cars that are heading to north america as they dont encounter floods more than 300mm very often( it will just be an unecessary added cost for US spec cars) unlike in our country where flooded streets are normal during monsoon rains. Is this discrimination?I'm sure you'd be happy to know that the Philippines is considered as a 'deep wade market' and cars they send to us are tested for our flooded streets.
Yes I agree that globalizing your product is the way to go but you see its easier said than done. Every car maker is dreaming of making a global spec car as it is much easier for them but it isnt always possible and there will always be a limiting factor. Ford is trying to do it now with the Fiesta and the Focus. They are now selling these European Fords to North America, but dont expect the TDCi versions to become popular there.
Car makers would like to make their cars as robust as possible to keep customers happy and making market specific cars makes it possible for them. Just like the saying "Jack of all trades, master of none"..car makers dont want their cars like this.
If Hyundai now has a globalized all their product line up then hands down to them! thats job well done! Better than any carmaker
