    Hello fellow Isuzu Hilander owners!

I'm a newbie here from Leyte province and would like to seek your expertise regarding my unit Isuzu Hilander SL '97 with isuzu 4ja1 engine.

    These are my issues:
    A. Black smoke comes out in first few seconds upon engine start-up and followed by too much smoke (white to grayish white) during engine running idle but reduces when engine is hot.
    B. Along with the smoke is a strong smell of which I think unburnt diesel.

What do you think are the possible culprit? Other conditions listed below for your reference if anyone can help me troubleshoot my problem.
    1. Odometer reading 95,000+; i'm not sure if it wasn't tweaked by previous owner.
    2. Doesn't eat up oil I guess 'coz I rarely consumed 500ml oil for top-up in between oil change.
    3. Replaced fuel filter and cleaned water separator.
    4. Replaced air filter with the L200 cartridge. Logically, I found it less restrictive in terms of air flow since it fully perforated all around allowing more air with less restriction. Unlike air filter intended for 4ja1 which is half mask perforated cartridge.
    5. Checked nozzle tips opening pressure and witnessed it still opens at required opening pressure based on 4ja1 manual. Though, one nozzle found to have not spraying the correct pattern so it was dismantled and cleaned, fortunately the spray went okay as others.
    6. Used biodiesel on several full tanks with recommended mixture specified on the bottle, MC55. Even used it twice 100% biodiesel feed directly to injection pump (supply/return) until 1 liter of it consumes and rev the engine at several RPM's on two separate occasions.
    7. Check valve clearance in cold condition at 0.014 inch as specified on the manual.
    8. Opened oil filler cap and oil dipstick while engine running but no oil spitting observed not unless if I rev the engine.
    9. Average km/Li: Hiway = 14, City = 10, Mixed = 12. A/C on.
    10. Regularly flushed-out carbon from exhaust pipe with soap and water.
    11. Oil changed: every 5,000 km or 6mos. with minimum required SAE40 or 15W-40 oil, CD to CI grade shell or petron.
    12. Only light to moderate driving conditions mostly 60% hiway and 40% city
    13. One click start even on cold and rainy days.
    14. No significant loss of power detected, pick-up is still okay even if fully loaded.
    15. No heavy smoke on high RPM's not unless if uphill and within wrong range of speed and rpm.
    14. Even run the engine with no air filter, still the annoying smoke persists.
    15. Definitely not blown head gasket I think 'coz I rarely top-up coolant on my radiator. Also, no milky residue or oil presence on radiator cap and no significant air bubbles observed with engine is running.

With all these things I've done so far, do you think guys something I missed? Or do I really need to check / service my injection pump?

Thank you very much to all and more power!

Nasubukan mo ng adjust yung fuel delivery/butterfly valve ng injection pump?
