I totally agree!
An SD card is not an ideal solution, and, the head unit will only accept, I believe a maximum 2GB card.
But, one 2GB card allows for approximately 40 CDs worth of "play time", and they are real inexpensive.
I, also, originally had my inav "on" all the time, but, now I use it only when I travel in unfamiliar areas.....then I play a CD or listen to 774AM.
By the way, do insert the SD card in the inav slot and choose your selection through an interface, just as you do for a CD.
