give up 4jx1 and convert to 4jg2 : is it a good idea or another problem

Keep it, kung wala ka naman plan na ibenta, you can replace naman the engine.

Basta papas maganda pa yung kaha and interior, maintain mo na lang.

just wanna share some expierence
the 4jg2 engine is better than the 4jx1 hindi ka bibigyan nang sakit sa ulo nyan pero power comparison malayo
i have 4jg2(japan lotus ed 1991 model a/t) no problems until now 1st owner me here sa pinas and accquired it 2004 65km odo reading
now its 127km and its still fine and smooth im using it as a daily car then come 2009 we bought a 2nd hand 05 trooper skyroof ed 4jx1 engine 75km odo used it for 6months then i sold it for the problematic engine that i wasnt aware of that time. had to repalce injectors which was expensive i rather sold it na lang and kept my 1991 bighorn instead

if you want to keep your troopy change your engine sir
cheaper cost and cheaper maintance one oil filter and any oil will do

Nadaanan ko lang yan kanina habang nag canvas ako ng wheels for my Bighorn kaya nagtanong na din ako. Malapit sa may riles ng PNR. 120k daw for 4jg2 + automatic transmission na and then 6k daw for the installation/labor. Nag iisa lang sila na nagbebenta ng 4jg2 the rest of the shops puro 4jx1 na. I suggest na puntahan mo nalang then makipag negotiate ka nalang sa kanila. For me good buy na yan. Post ka nalang ng updates if ever na matuloy para na din sa ibang Bighorn/Trooper users.

I am not 100% sure on this but I believe the differential ratio of the 4JX1 and the 4JG2 is different (on a trooper manual 4jg2NA, 4.777 ang differential ratio. 4.55 sa turbocharged)
