    hmmm. for the isuzu CRDi's, synthetic or semisynthetic would be a good choice.

    for the older non-CRDi's, especially the 4JA1? save your money and stick to a 5,000 km oil change schedule (mineral or semi-synth). as previously been said, the diesel here is really not the cleanest in the world and it would be beneficial for the engine to get cleaned every 5,000 and not every 10000 kilometers. no need for flushing oils - those eat up your gaskets. besides, if you happen to notice, the oil's black again after just a few weeks whether it's synthetic or mineral.

    Additionally, if your engine's been using mineral oils for years, there's a possibility that the oil seals may lose their sealing if you suddenly shift to synthetic oils.

    To add, I would even prefer using regular motor oil to as long it is up to spec. (except the Trooper that requires a specific type of oil) The longevity of a diesel engine's life is it's motor oil. The frequent you replace it with new motor oil, the better.
